How do you sharpen your Benchmades?

I'd recommend starting with a knife that's already been reprofiled or that comes from the factory less than 20 dps and learn how to get one sharp on a Sharpmaker.. Kinda the basics of sharpening. Then, later on, there's mods you can do to a Sharpmaker to make it possible to reprofile, or just invest in a system better suited for reprofiling, or send your knives to someone to reprofile and keep them touched up with a strop or Sharpmaker.
 
The Sharpmaker is a great tool and works really well for touching up an edge quickly and without making a mess or having parts scattered all over a table. No power cords, motors, or other gadgetry, simple and effective. :thumbup:
 
Apex Edge Pro. I have two sharpmakers and they work but they suck at reprofiling and they will never give you the "perfect" edges that you can get with a system type sharpener. Others will disagree but I can routinely put whatever kind of edge repeatedly on any knife with the edge pro. The sharpmaker is not nearly as repeatable. It is also significantly cheaper. To each his own.

I have also broken stones on the sharpmaker. You have to be careful because the stones are quite brittle (no kidding!). I had the first one for years before I broke one but broken it is. Nice system for the money but the edge pro does a better job for much more money. I always wanted to try the wicked edge as well but I haven't.
