Bsck stroke 2 or 3 times, then front stroke 2 or 3 times on a sharpening steel.
Then couple strokes on leather!
Comes out like new.
Doesn't have to be done that often with VIC'S!!
I use a 1x2x8" Norton India Stone on the fine side. No need to get to fancy with a sak. I can touch up the edge in under a minute in most cases to where I am comfortable using it.
Sharpmaker, 40°, pretty much every time I use it (at the end of the day). That's not that often, mind youI carry another knife for a reason, with the SAK and its spongy-soft blade being on me for the tools.
The flip side, of course, is that it only takes a few strokes to bring an edge back.
