I shipped a couple chef blades out and the shipping ended up being like 50 bucks!

How do you all do it? FedEx, US POST etc?

Thanks

I always send mine priority flat rate with USPS and pay for extra insurance up to value of all the blades and it never breaks past $20. Can even send for a bunch of their priority packages and use them to multi wrap your blades in bubble mailers for extra protection.

That's another nice thing about the FR boxes, you can order or grab a stack from the office. Might be less expensive to use your own box, but the FR boxes are convenient and are sturdy. Tape it up well and you should be gtg.

And you can use them at ups of need be also [emoji51]

They even have a flat rate "game board box" that is 24" long. I use it to ship bundles of blades. I pad each end with wadded paper and put the blades in the center. $20 bucks or so in shipping with $50 in free insurance. I have shipped fifty pounds of steel in the same boxes.

If the blades are the same I take a couple pieces of all thread and bolt the blades together through the tangs into a big brick. I then use Zip ties on the ends of the all thread to strap that brick down to a sheet of micarta (holes drilled in it). A length of bent cardboard across the tips for good measure and wrap it up, stuff it into a USPS Regional Rate A box (size 11"X13") with padding in the empty spaces and can ship ~40 knives for ~$6 via priority mail, which is pretty fast. I've shipped this way many times and never had any problem. The knives are tied down so they can't damage the box, the postman, or each other.

Yeah, USPS really likes you using their flat rate packages. You can order pallets of them or just ask for a stack over the counter from your local PO.
