How do you stay motivated?

I was interested to see what kept Mark Terrell motivated because I just look at the picture next to name on here. That seems to work for me!

I got hit by this too. It was especially frustrating in the first few years because I had no contact with any other knifemakers. It hasn't been a problem for the last 5 years or so and I will repeat a suggestion that was already stated, do other stuff too. I diversified and I make damascus, knives and gold/silver mokume rings. It seems to work for me. Now I'm a full timer, and I have been for over a year. Also take a bit of time off from time to time, for me I stay out of the shop on sundays.
Thanks,
Del

Having a new grinder should motivate you. I find having new toys to be an excellent stimulant.

Otherwise, you could just wait it out. Obsessions have their way of returning.

Its the same In any money making venture, I am at burnout with my constuction company and have passed up numerous jobs, feeling like i am compromised, but lately the run of the mill jobs that do not inspire me are not adding money to my accounts, should i deprive my family and employees welfare with my boredom???

I've hit a slump:mad:. It seems to be that about once a year I have a month or so where I just don't feel like making anything. I've got a brand new grinder sitting in the shop that runs like a dream, but I just can't find the gumption to get out and use the thing. I need some advice, what do all of you do when the batteries are dead?

free stickers and stuff from forum owners! :D
