I have some that don't get carried very often in smaller cases. Fixed blades are currently in a plastic tote drawer along with sharpening supplies and some other gear.
I have a couple of retail display cases that Recon 1 gave me. I keep my active EDC rotation in one display and the rest of my knives stay in their boxes stacked in the other display tucked away in my closet.
I use a Harbor Freight wooden toolchest, works for me, and I keep my folders, fixed blades, and watch EDC rotations there. The rest of my collection is stored away in plastic jewelry display cases for easy visual access.
You guys are much more thoughtful about this than I am----mine are just on the table where the tv sits on where I dump the contents of my pockets every night.
I'm with Omaha - my 5 EDCs (paired Buck 484 folders, paired Kabar 1232s or 1256/7s, and a BK11) just sit on the bathroom counter top where I put them when I take them off at night, along with my keys, wallet, and challenge coin. My "farm work" EDCs, the BK9, BK4, and the Kabar 1217 hang from hooks on the back of the bathroom closet door for substitution as my FB EDCs for work around the farm.
I think I'll need one of those 1300 Pelicans eventually. Right now I'm trying to fill this eight-slot Pelican 1170 from Nalpak. I will probably keep it for my favorites.
This weekend I got a new box for my EDC knives. It is smaller than my previous box but still holds my large EDC rotation. I got this one at Walmart for under $5.
I have a jewelry style display case that I keep on my dresser. In this I keep my current EDC rotation knives. The lid has a glass top and the case is covered with a soft pad on the bottom.
Then beside my workbench I have an Akro Mills 64 drawer parts organizer. I've lined each drawer with soft foam and each knife gets a drawer. They're usually labeled but I've been doing some rearranging. The Akro works good but is a little too light a plastic for 64 knives. It's starting to sag a little. Every knife in the parts organizer gets cycled through my EDC.
The the other 220 or so folders I have are in various knife rolls, bags or spyderpacs. I keep a spreadsheet with info on each knife and current location.
Crappy pics, but this is my new setup as of tonight. 3 drawer chest i picked up at auction recently. A mistaken purchase that turned out pretty good, I think. Nothing fancy, but a few have a lot of sentiment
I picked up a storage chest at a garage sale. Think I got it around $75. It does have a lock but I don't have any kids around.
The top shelf, I lined with soft cloth used to wax cars with. I picked those up from the dollar store so I can have a nice display when opened. The bottom I use for storage, boxes sheathes, batteries, etc...
Mine also doubles as my coffee table & I'm in an apartment as well so I know how space is limited.
