Hi

I was just wondering how you guys store your collection of knives?

Since i don't have a big or valuable collection, i just have them in a drawer..nothing fancy.

Do yo have special cabinets, shelves, drawers or maybe even safes in which to store your collection?

same here.
my very small "collection" lives in a drawer, along with lighters, matches, and any other kit you don't want 5 year old cousins getting hold of.
then at christmas, easter ect (i.e. any time younger cousins are likely to be around for any length of time) I transfer the whole lot to a box, which I can put on top of my wardrobe, well out of their reach.

it will be nice when they've grown up a bit, and I can trust them not to fiddle.....

I use a roll-up tool roll, the kind to store different size chisels. That way, if I have to grab them all quickly, it's easy.

This was how I started out storing them.

I don't have any especially valuable knives in my collection (no semi-precious scale material or expensive customs), so after a while, when it started to outgrow my first drawer rather than taking over the whole dresser, I started storing some of them in ridgid plastic boxes, and then keeping them on shelves in the closet. The boxes I use are large, flat and clear plastic so I can see what's in them without opening them up and rooting around. I still keep a couple of my common EDC knives in the old drawer, but most of my collection lives in the closet when I am not using it now.

So far it has worked out well.

I have a drawer for my knives, and one for my sharpening equipment and one for my flashlights. I really do need to get a safe, but I am going to wait unril I move into my new house and get a large fort knox safe that weighs about 2000 pounds.

I've got drawers in my bedroom, work room and Man Cave full of knive. I have a bunch also "stored" in various back-packs and fanny-packs. Its no wonder I am constantly "losing" knives...A couple of weeks back I was looking for a particular knife in the Man Cave and found a Lile and a Lovestrand that I forgot that I had...

I forgot, I have a basket full of knive also.

No, I keep my knives and some other stuff in a drawer in the kitchen.

My wife graciously let me use a little space in the closet for a plastic bucket with lid that has my knives in it ;)

They were all scattered until last weekend. Went to Hobby Lobby and found a nice 5ft tall chest of small drawers for collectables. Was marked down to $95 from $270, and they accidently took 30% more off at the register so I got it for about $60. Can't complain about that. :)

13 12"x9" drawers and a door at the bottom that is the same width/depth and is about 18" high. Lined all of the drawers with black cloth.

I generally use Pelican cases and such. I have other such products by other makers.

They're air tight and I throw a couple of dessicant bags in the cases to dehumidify.

I have a fishing tackle box crammed full of folders, but thats a pretty lame setup. My big fixed blades are just in a cardboard box. Want to get maybe a Sears tool chest with the slide-out drawers and see if that works.

Just in separate compartments of bookcases, but I really need something better as I have too many knives for such limited space. I have bought some ZT folders covers/pouches recently and they are excellent to keep my folders dust free.

Rollup pouches for me too.I really got a do something about that.

Pocket knives are relegated to the top door sills around the house, fixed blades are kept where they land after use.

Something like this would be nice. I found it on Ebay and am considering it. I really like how it can hold alot of knives but doesn't take up a bunch of space. What I don't like about it however is the color (I could easily stain it I guess) and the fact that you can only see what's in the top drawer. What you guys think?

I keep all my knives and guns in a large, concealed walk-in vault inside my house. The vault opens by use of a keypad which is also hidden, if you enter the wrong code on the keypad the vault won't open no matter what for 24 hours. Inside it's temperature and humidity controlled.
