How do you survive in the wilderness for 2 years and eat like a king ?

There is something wrong with this story. 1 I have shot a 500 S&W X-frame on several different occasions. I can not find a large picture but this gun doesn't look like a x-frame or a 500 S&W. 2 Recoil on this gun is brutal (but fun) even for me and I am a big guy who is not recoil shy. 3 Unless these rounds were hand loaded to a lower power this kid probably would have hell firing this gun that many times. 4 This round is extremely devastating and I could kill just about any comparable size or weight animal or bigger with just a few poorly placed shots. 5 The possibility exist that he was shooting 50 AE but Smith and Wesson doesn't make a gun in this caliber. I am not saying this story isn't true I would just like to have a few more facts.

I was thinking the same thing about the gun and I assume it is 500 S&W all though the story doesn't say exactly what 50 caliber he was using.

I just checked the S&W website and the only 50 caliber handgun they show
is the 500 S&W

I blew the photo up on the computer and it does look like the S&W 500 shown in the photo below.

I guess we have to wait for more details to emerge.

I could just be me, but that looks like a play on the camera angle. Looks like he's about 5-10 feet back from that hog.

Anyone else think that?

Yep. In that pic it looks as large as a Rhinoceros. Something that large would would weigh in the neighborhood of 2 to 2 1/2 ton.

So I take it that the gun has a custom black finish? I wonder if you could have a cylinder made to shoot 50 ae or if you could use a moon clip. I wouldnt be surprised if it ends up being a 44 mag and not a 50 cal.

It does look like a black finish on the frame the cylinder and muzzle break is clearly stainless. I don't know If you can shoot 50AE in it or not . It may be a possibility though.

From their website http://www.monsterpig.com
Just outside Anniston, Alabama on Thursday May 3 2007, an 11 year old boy kills 1,051 lb. wild Feral hog. The pig was over 10' 7" long. The hog was taken with a Smith & Wesson customized .50 caliber revolver shooting 350 grain Hornady bullets. The 11 year old boy is Jamison Stone.

Here's the link they posted to the gun http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/...d=10001&productId=14807&langId=-1&isFirearm=Y

The site is down, but Google had it in cache.

tedwca: That solves the question. Awesome. I know this young man is on top of the world right now. Good for him.

I saw this on CNN this afternoon, even they aren't totaly sure if the pic is real or bogus. If real, that 11 year old has an XXL set of nads to hang around and hammer that freight train ! Hope it's real, and good for him if it is.

No he just weighs about 250 lbs. If you look how big the gun is compared to him you realize how big this kid is. The cylinder on a S&W x-frame is about 2 1/2" long and look how long the barrel is. I bet after chasing that pig as far as they claim he was ready for a triple meat burger and an x-large shake. "Hey you guys".

What do the other kids call this boy who can control a .50 caliber revolver well enough to shoot this humongous hog 8 times with it? SIR! :D

A lot of us want more details on his weapon, but I'm guessing it's one of those custom built .50 caliber single actions.

Nope its a custom x-frame 500 S&W. The whole story is starting to smell worse and worse every day. The reason he had to shoot the hog 8 times was due to his lack of ability to shoot well. I see this all the time. Give a kid a gun let him fire 2 practice shots and all of the sudden he is a professional hunter. This kid should have been hunting with something he could shoot proficiently.

Im from North Alabama and one of my hobbies (besides beginning knife making) is Hog hunting. All i can say is wow wow wow the biggest hog i have ever killed weighed in at 250 and i would have sworn that it was a monster ..... well until i saw this alien hog lol.
