"How do you tell someone their knife is crappy?"
I wouldn't, I'm a firm believer that your best knife, is the one in your pocket, when you need it.
When carrying a knife becomes an integral part of your daily carry - then finding sites like this, gaining a little more knowledge ,then spending a few more bills on something better, seems to be the natural progression. What comes later is borderline "steel addiction".
Saying that, a crappy knife will always be crappy, but a good one will always serve you well.
