How do you tell the difference between a real and fake Sebenza 25

Looks like there is no stonewashing on the fake, more of a brushed look on the flats and grinds. I don't have a 25 to reference, but is the "IDAHO MADE" a bit distorted, or do the real one's look that way too? I own a printing company, and font-type stuff jumps out at me.

Wow, fakes are getting good. To OP, my advice is to only buy quality knives (Hinderer, CRK) from knife forums or authorized dealers. Otherwise, you risk getting fakes. Is that worth it to save a few bucks? If a CRK is too good of a deal, you better watch out....

Especially if you are not a CRK expert or very familiar with them, you should stick to dealers or knife exchanges like this one. Newbies get burned on fleabay all the time.

You don't even save much, if anything buying off eBay on these. If they are real they're still about the same money, if they aren't and the seller is trying to con you, well you don't there either, as if people think it's real it will still sell for the same, as real. The only reason this one was purchased off eBay was because of availability.

Looks like the "A" in IDAHO is wider at the bottom on the fake. My first 25 is inbound, hopefully no "surprises". :)

man i just got my first crk, a seb 25 off ebay, i purchased from sooner state knives who is an authorized dealer, so i feel safe.

lesson learned though, even though i picked up on the authorized dealer part, i may have fallen victim to one of these fakes, by picture it is very hard for me to tell, not sure if i really can.

I haven't found much on ebay that I couldn't find within my own country. usually its overpriced too. that knock off is really well done. I had one bad experience w ebay a few yrs ago and learned my lesson. DONT BUY ON EBAY

A friend of mine ordered a Sebenza 25 off ebay and he wouldn't have known it was a fake, but the box and dated card was not nearly as well faked as the knife. Here it is before he sent it back for a refund. eBay doesn't seem to realize people are going to stop dealing with them for knives and will pay a little more to dealers, that deal directly with the knife companies.

Ask for date code on the inside of each slab. It's rare that the fakes have them. Also note that on the fake 25 pictured that one side of the blade stop pin is either made similar to the Inkosi or is permanent. Most (if not all) of the 25's that I have purchased from well known dealers on eBay (i.e. Action Concepts and Blade Galaxy) sold for the same price as other dealers, came with CRK pocket sheaths and were verified to be large CRK dealers by Anne or Heather via a phone call before I purchased. I have several 25's from TNK, Blade HQ, Wilson Combat and KnivesShipFree.com as well and most came with a sheath. Admittedly mine are all inlaid, CGG w/ Damascus blades or limited runs / exclusives (Action Concept's "Gonzales Flag", Knife Art's CF slab and Blade HQ's CF inlay are good examples).
