I know, I know, we aren't supposed to be crying "when will they be ready"? That's not what I'm asking!

I know that there are twenty-five owners of DR's new project out there and I simply want to get an idea of what they (the owners) are thinking about ordering for their final product.

Mr. Dawkind submitted a post featuring some beautiful drawings and with taste buds at full tilt, I thank you again!

So whatdayahave!

#2 has been narrowed down to two choices...1: Standard w/ carbon fiber inserts, or 2: Go for BROKE all Damascus w/ black MOP. (Can't decide on GO or SHOW)

I'd really like to know what everyone is thinking about!

Kind regards,

I know that there hasn't been a lot of news about Gemini lately. I know that y'all are probably very curious. I'm trying to get Mr. Ralph talked into letting me post some sketches soon. He is working very hard on this project because he is personally very excited about it and very much impressed with the enthusiasm y'all have shown. He is actually ahead of schedule and I hope to post some stuff soon.

In the mean time, I've already picked out my options and I'm not going to say a work. I'll leave you to speculate.

Well, I'm 26, thats right, first in line when one of you sorry SOB's pulls out! A hahahahaha! Ok, so that means I'll probably not get a numbered one because who in their right mind would drop out? Not to be dismayed, that will give me an excuse to actually tough it from time to time. I'm dirt poor, so I may go plain, or I might to inserts. If caron fiber, i go with Kydex/concealex sheath. If wood, I go with leather. All dependant on the prototype though, and what actually seems to look better to me. Not to mention what i can afford (need to cool the spending, just ordered a Sifu and a Chinook this week, ouch).

Thanks for the news Chuck! Looking forward to the post and glad to hear that Darrell is ahead of schedule. I really was wanting to know what your Gemini (s) were going to be though!

Mine's # '007' and it's anodized Ti, to match my medium size Apogee Illusion, and as of now with carbon-fiber inserts............I might drop the inserts since my knife doesn't have the overlay..........I'm waiting for the actual pics of the protos before I make, "Is that your final answer!?!"

I went with the full Damascus, and am still considering the addition of the MOP scales.

This is going to be my first "Collector" Balisong (read: no flipping) so anything can happen.

Hey Clay,

Good choice! Since you're the master flipper, let me ask you...If you were to go all damascus, would it affect the wait and balance any? (Not that I plan to flip mine!)

Thanks Chuck,

I have always had the impression that damascus would be heavier. Not sure as to why.

Anybody else out there got dibs on a Gemini?
What's it gonna look like?

Hummm Let's see... One for show one for go. I ordered a full Damascus with MOP. I will handle the knife, but do not plan on using it. It will not leave my house.

I also ordered a TI with a yet to be chosen insert. I'm leaning on ironwood, but may go with Maroon Micarta. I also want the hand rubbed finished on the stainless blade.

I do plan on using the SS + Ti knife. Not for heavy use, but it will cut a few steaks, open 50% of my mail, and amuse myself while watching the evening news. Oh and I'm sure cut myself with it too.

Every single knife that I bought and will buy whether custom or production will always see action. I don't care how much I pay for it or if Mr. Samson ground the blade, it doesn't matter to me, I will flip it til it dies or I die.

I've used allot of the pieces I own, but I have a feeling this is one that I need to keep Pristine. Besides, they say that MOP is very fragile. I'll let my son choose the method of their undoing!

MOP is not that fragile. Many makers have made balisongs with MOP inserts for many years. The big risk would be dropping the knife onto a hard surface. MOP is actually a great material for knife inserts since it is 100% dimensionally stable. It doesn't shrink or expand. It's not affected by changes in temperature or humidity. It doesn't age, yellow, crack, deteriorate, etc. Water doesn't damage it. It's not adversely affected by oils from skin. And, it needs no special preservation or care or treatment.

It is a relatively soft material and can be scratched. And, it is a brittle material anc can be chipped, shattered, or broken.

OKAY...Brittle, chip, shatter. All these words leave me thinking fragile.
