How does everyone do templates?

I just sketch things out freehand first. Then when I have something I like I get out the straight edge and compass and clean the lines up. That's all I used to do. Now I transfer that over to a thin G10 liner material (1/16" I think) and use that to make my templates. I like using the ghost jade stuff b/c I can see though it for alignment. I've just started doing this, but I actually like when my knives have variations in look. Now I DO like all the holes in the right places for alignment reasons, especially on folders for hidden pins and such.
