David 1967 Those were excellent diagrams. On the 1st Random Task folder I got the torsion bar broke at the 90 degree bend after a few dozen openings.I sent it back and it works great after hundreds of openings.

Great pictures. My question is, since 'Speed-Safe' does not qualify as an auto in some jurisdictions, who did they get around the 'torsion bar' issue. A torsion bar is a spring--they were on old Chryslers. The diagram clearly shows bending and recoiling. True, there is no traditional button release, but, is that enough to circumvent law?--OKG
P.S. I'd like to know, as I own and carry this knife.

The difference is that the release is not in the handle, and many jurisdictions wrote their laws with that specification. Since the release is the blade itself, the knife gets through a loophole.

P.S., thanks, David, I always wondered how that works.
