How does Smith & Wesson (Taylor Cutlery) stand here in the forums?

Boycott S&W before they erode our freedoms worse than they already have.

The gun owning public has done more to erode our freedoms than S&W ever will, and that's a fact.

S&W has done more to preserve the 2nd Amendment, just by being in business, than any gun owner in this country will ever do.

In my opinion, people boycott S&W because it's easy, and it gives them a sense that they are really "taking a stand" and "helping to preserve the 2nd Amendment", which is crap.

RH pretty much decribed my feelings on those who would use "S&W branding" to sell stuff. Of course there are other opinions, some of which carry weight, and could be more relevant at this point. Mikemck has a good point or two. Putting S&W out of business would indeed be a nasty result of any boycott, and the anti-gun nuts would rejoice, I'm sure.

However, I'm still waiting for some more positive public statement from the folks at the "new" S&W. So far I ain't seen one.

I do hope S&W comes through and returns to a semblence of normalcy. I feel the same for Colt, and Mas Ayoob's recent article on Colt has me hoping Colt begins selling more handguns soon. Their decision to stop production on all but the GM and the Cowboy may or may not have been as "political" as what S&W did.

Yes, with all the lawsuits, it is hard for the gun companies to deal with. But it's hard for us all, too.

Until I see an improvement, I won't buy anything new from S&W, simply because of the past "cave-in." I might buy used, however, since it's already "out here" to buy.

(FWIW, I've only owned one S&W--a M625-3 .45 ACP 3" N frame. I sold it during the Klinton Krime Bill days so I could stock up on carbine mags and whatever else I thought would be "outlawed.")

If S&W just came out with a statement apologizing for the past "deal," and pledged to fight what they can to get out of whatever it is they "agreed to," then that would satisfy me.

Am I asking too much?? :(

I think that what the anti-gun crowd planned this to happen.

Have a gun manfacture side with them and then customers will boycott until they go *poof*, one less gun company in the way.
