I agree Murphnuge. While it's a great chopper, up close to the handle is excellent for carving. You may have seen it before, but here is my thread, using only the Machax for prepping a friction fire hearth.
For those that haven't seen it before, this is a product review done by American Survival Guide way back when. It's what pushed me into buying one. You might have to use your zoom feature......

Hmmmm, I might take a second look at the Machax after all. Got a Condor Parang today and I noticed the vibration right away. Took the Lansky kit out as it couldn't cut butter fresh out of the box.

Just so you know, you could send Condor an E-Mail asking for a replacement. I'm sure they'd be glad to replace it.My Condor came with a decent edge at least in comparison to the CS (that had virtually none) but so far I've only chopped with it once because the brass pins stick out above the wood on one side and it kills my hands.
