How does the new 11/14/24 sheath work?

I remember mention of it back around SHOT, just saw it on the KA-BAR site. If anyone has it, how exactly does it work?

It has a pivoting lock that covers/catches the heel section.

Looks pretty cool. How difficult is it to move when you're pulling the knife out?

Depends. You can adjust the bolt for different tensions. I pitched the idea of a Grivory wrench, but nobody's listening. :p

From the looks of it, it seems to be detachable from the stock sheath. Will kabar be selling it as a standalone piece?

Wow that's a really interesting design. So is the retention bolt/piece kept in place with tention? That's pretty cool, I've never seen a retention strap replaced by a solid piece of anything before.

It's pretty intuitive for one hand opening.

I like this thing, I think it will work well.

Just remember, adjust tension while the knife is in the sheath and give it some time to break in.....it's gonna be a little tight at first but it will break in.

Will knives be shipping with this new sheath or it an upgrade that is purchased separately?

And these are actually new sheaths. No fiberglass so no knife dulling. That's tested and confirmed in actual implementation by me. That's the reason for the locks......

Excellent news, great looking sheath as well..

Does the new doo hicky keep tension upward on the knife? Perhaps silencing rattling and movement by keeping the knife all the way forward?

Its a vault. The lock put inward pressure from the front and back, forcing the lip of the sheath closed.

As long as the lock is in place and snapped, that knife won't come out. Upside down, I even put a 7' long piece of paracord through the hole in the handle and tried to use centrifugal force. Not coming out.

I want one of those, but at this point I cannot justify the expense. I'm pretty sure that the sheath I recieved with my 14 is taking the good edge off of my knife. That would be the main reason. Although, better retention would be great as well.

(Edtited as I was not sure if I violated a TOS. Tis all good.)

Look forward to getting one of these.
Group buy a possibility?

I've been using one for a month or so and it's really growing on me. The softer plastic is nice and the lock is positive yet easy to one hand open. I like it scout carry.

Woohoo, gonna get a bk24 with the new sheath, thank you Coyle Outdoors. It's the last becker knife I've been eyeballing and I will be good for awhile, or at least until the bk21 aka rbk comes out.
