How does the new 11/14/24 sheath work?

I like the sheath lock on my BK24. The blade is definitely secure when it's engaged. As Moose says, it squeezes the sides of the sheath together.
It is thick though.. and makes the knife stand out a bit on the chest during neck carry. Oh, how I wished it had been designed thinner. That would be perfection.
It would be hard to mod too. The bolt is long, and the head of it is held in place with a hex indention.
One could remove the lock altogether... but I wonder with the new softer plastic, whether retention issues would develop with time?

i am wondering if this lock only is compatible with the old sheath?
To just buy a lock and screw it to old one.

Is it uncomfortable to wear against your skin compared to the old design?

Glad they addressed the dulling issue and made it more secure in the process!

Wouldn't adding the new lock to an old sheath be "counter-productive." meaning, the previous version seemed secure enough, but the issue was blade dulling. what would you gain by adding the locking mechanism to the sheath that already grabs the blade? I would think an entire upgrade would be in order to prevent the known dulling effect.

Okay I've looked over this new design, read the evaluations by others. I think the design is good, although it might need to be shaved down a little. Only time will tell.

Anyway, for how I wear my BK14, it won't be much of an issue. If I turn it into a neck knife, it'll allow for secured tip up carry.

The only problem I have with the design, is when it comes to modifying the factory sheath like I did for my sister, by turning it into a dangler design.

So if anyone wants to wear their BK11/14/24 like this, they're going to need to go with a kydex sheath.

Yes. But all the sheaths wear down over time.

If your worried about you knife popping out, the lock will fix that.

I took some of the "extra" off of mine, still works like a champ, just not so much bulk.

Easy to do, just be careful, you can take too much away making it a bear to open up.

So I just got one of these new sheaths in the mail today. I'm left wondering if it's an old model that's been retrofitted with the new lock lever, because even after I took the lever off entirely, it holds onto my BK14 and refuses to let go. It takes a lot of thumb pressure to finally break the seal.

Or is the new material just as strong as the glass filled nylon, and the locking lever isn't really necessary for most applications in blade retention?
