How does the proxy system for Busse knives at shows work?

Always curious about this. I'm guessing that the proxy acts as a buyer for someone who can't get to the show. But, how does one know what's at the show or does the proxy call his sponsor when he gets there?

Does the sponsor provide the cash in advance?

Can someone explain the whole deal?

In the meantime:

Best thing to do is hammer out the details as soon as possible with your Proxy.
For the times I've been fortunate enough to have one, I try to make it as stress free as possible as they are doing me a rather large favor... So I arrange to have my Proxy snag what can be grabbed, hand it over to the Crew who then place it in a box with my name on it, and go about enjoying the rest of the show. The Crew brings it back to Wauseon and when ready, they charge my CC and ship it to me (since Busse has my CC info on file). This way, my Proxy doesn't have to worry about paying for my stuff in advance, or handling my money, or shipping my stuff to me... They just snag what they can snag and they're done. :) That's one way. Surely there are others.

ETA: If decided to go this route, be sure to contact Lexi before the show to make sure that they can accommodate the request. :)

Personally, I am WAAYYYY to picky to use a proxy. The more I pay for something the more particular I am in the pursuit of that item's perfection.

You're welcome! :) Hey forgot to mention... Sometimes we get "spy pix" from Jerry, or word of special offerings. Either way, you'd want to get with your proxy via the phone to tell you what's there, or submit a short list of knives to look out for before the show. Or both! ;)
 
Also forgot to mention that BRIBES never hurt... :D:D Booze is popular! ;)

Off topic here but on that note....I'm been curious about this for a week or two now...

For all that is joked about here in regard to Busse/employees and drinking... is it just joking or is it true? Also, do people here actually send them scotch and such or, again, is it said in jest??

proxy? you pick a hog you trust who is willing to do you a favor, he either scores your knife and pays for it or you have given him the funds to score for you. proxy then sends scored knife to skunk for verifacation along with fifth of hogs nose scotch for proper recording, tracking certificates etc.

it's pretty much as simple as that.

Also remember that not all shows are put on by the shop, so some tweaking to Jaxxs statement would happen...
