How does your Edgepro work?

I like my EP but someone tell me how to do the tips of knives. I keep rounding them and I really can't get the bevel of the tip to look as even as the rest of the knife.

I do not have one but from what I have seen many knives have a thicker grind at the tip than from the rest of the knife. You probalbly have to take down the adge some more at the tip.

The rounding of the tip happens when you run the stone off the edge of tip of the blade. Instead of letting the stone slide off the tip, stop your stroke on the tip, so that you still have about half the stone on the tip and half off. From there just lift the stone directly off the tip.

The only problem I've been noticing with the edgepro system is that as the 120 and 220 stones wear out fast, they require more lapping. This decreases the height of the stone thereby changing the sharpening angle a very small amount each time you switch to a different stone.

The other problem I've been having is setting the bevel on blades near the handle. Since the stone doesn't hit this portion of the blade as much it forces you to spend more time grinding this section which creates a higher bevel in this half in section than the rest of the edge. Anyone have a good remedy for this?

1" long riser blocks about an 3/4 high (enough for the handle to clear the table and a bit) however deep you want to go, this will necessitate using a marker to match the bevel however when you switch to the blade table or you have to sharpen the entire edge on the riser block.

Tip rounding rotate the blade out so the edge of the tip is parallel to the table edge in the centre of the blade table. Don't run off the tip with the stone.

Some widening of the bevel at the tip can be desirable but if you want it the same all the way you have to keep the entire edge the same distance and square to the blade table.

I've had my Edge Pro Pro Model about 7-8 months and give it a 10 with no qualms. The manufacturer support also gets a 10. I consider my EP to be some of the best bucks I've ever spent.
