How does your knife ride in your pocket?

Maybe I'm still a little old fashioned, but I still carry my 503 in my pocket with keys, change, and all. It's gotten pretty beaten up that way, but that's how I've always carried. Seems like everybody uses clips these days. Any thoughts?

I pocket carry a medium size folder by itself in my left pocket, keys and everything else in the right pocket.
I usually have cargo shorts on, so I tend to have a slipjoint folder in one of the cargo pockets too.
And a full size folder on the belt in a sheath :)

For years I have carried my pocketknife in my left front pocket; for the last 14 years or so, a cell phone has ridden above the knife. My keys, change, coin, etc., stay in my RFP - no scratching of the handles or bolsters. I wear Wrangler or Carhartt jeans everyday to work - they have nice, deep pockets. OH

I carry a small slipjoint and a mini multi tool.

If I'm wearing jeans with a small watch pocket, the knife goes there while the multi tool goes in the pocket with the keys. If I don't have jeans on, I've got this tiny little fabric sleeve I put the knife in before it goes in the pocket with the keys. If I don't have any good pockets, ill leave the knife at home and the multitool will be hung around my neck.

I pocket carry everything and may carry an additional knife on my belt. Usually a 110, 317, Vantage or 500. They all kind of ride at a slant and eventually wears a hole in my jeans where the lower bolster sits. Funny, it doesnt put a hole in my pocket.

I have a Buck 110 Ecolite/Paperstone that rides in my right front pocket. For me, this has been the best knife I've ever carried in my pocket. In my blue jeans, it rides straight up vertical and never falls down. I can carry any other knife that is much smaller and they always fall down in my pockets. Something about the size and weight and texture of this knife makes it stand up and when I kick back in a recliner, it doesn't slide out.

Most of my EDC knives have a clip. On the days that I choose a slip joint I carry it in a pocket by itself. Not so much to prevent wear and tear but rather when I want/need my knife I don't want to fumble around for it in a pocket with keys, coins, etc. getting in the way.

Deep pocket carry only for me. I don't use clips because I don't trust them and I don't like advertising that I'm carrying a knife. I devote my left front pocket to my knife and I've never run into a situation where I couldn't get to it as quickly as I needed to. But then I work in an office where getting to my knife quickly isn't nearly as big an issue as keeping it out of the unwanted sight of my coworkers.

I used to carry my 501's with whatever was in my pockets, they also had as bolsters. Now that I carry a nicer one in stag and ns bolsters it sits in rt front by itself. I don't like clips because 95% of the time I carry a tape measure. Don't want a clip in back pocket for fear of scratching someone's leather seats.

I have to dress business casual at work and I was buying more expensive type of slacks and they weren't lasting very long. One day I needed to pick up a new pair of khakis quick and I went to Wal-Mart. Their cheap, plain khakis($12) and blue pants that are thicker than normal slacks( I guess blue khakis?)have an extra big and deep coin pocket inside the right front pocket that you can't see. Pocket will easily hold a Buck 110 upright and you don't even know it's there. Pants have held up for a year and the wife says they look as good as the more expensive ones. Didn't mean this to sound like a fashion add, but if you have to dress business casual, the pocket will allow you to easily carry anything up to a Buck 110 and no one will know its there.

I carry my asian water buffalo horn 110 in small nylon sheath. The sheath and knife go into my pocket since the sheath is flush and is easy to carry in my pocket. Even with the knife in the sheath. The nylon sheath does have a belt loop built into it. But living in the area of nyc the knife and sheath go into my pocket. Do it as protection from my keys and spare change. And when I do go camping. I can carry my knife on my belt

I am left-handed and I have carried a knife of some type in my left front pocket for over 60 years. When I was a teenager, I cut my right thumb enough to have stitches. My mother confiscated all of my knives, so she thought. I still had one in my left pocket. Never leave home without one.

On some of my knock around, outdoor pants I have sewed a pouch on the outside edge of right pocket. You just sew the two sides of the pocket material together with one line of stiches to form a pouch. 303 stockman, 55 or even a vantage with no clip slides right in and lays near pant seam. Everyone like there own inventions and methods. Clips are good also, usually I put a clip in the back beside the wallet or on the left side.

Depends on what I'm wearing. If I have jeans on, I might carry my vantage clipped on my right pocket. If I carry my 501, it will be deep in my right pocket. If I wear khakis, the Vantage or 501 will be deep in pocket.

Sad to say but here in Massachusetts I don't wear a BUCK in a sheath anymore its just to risky! I just wear a LEATHERMAN WAVE "even the WAVE poses a risk by me or percieved threat by law enforcement an the public" I don't want to be shot dead. Once coming home from DEER hunting It was late and dark and did'nt feel like cooking at home. So I stopped at a local PIE shop and hadn't taken off my VANGUARD knife of my belt, a local cop but not from my town next town over..The COP walked in for his order and did nothing but stare at the knife the whole time until I walked out of the Pizzaria......they have a new rule here now before they will use deadly force its 25 feet....they shot a kid dead in Southbridge MA who had a knife on him, don't get me wrong the kid had issues, but he was a whole 15 Yards+ about 30 feet away from the officers. lesson here in Massachsuetts "don't bring a knife to a gun fight" So I don't open carry in public no more.....only fishing and even the Evoirmental Police are getting out of hand.

I sometimes keep a mini shrade that looks exactly like a 110 in an altoids size plastic box with lures in my pocket but thats about it! we also here have to worry about concealed in your pocket or any place else an length. No more than the length of their palm wide. We have G.O.A.L. here maybe we need a KNIFE OWNER ACTION LEAGUE.....LOL and by the way weapon of choice now & on the rise here in Massachusetts is a MACHETE! by criminals & guess from what countries. Here in Massachusetts they allow self defense only with NERF BATS.....LOL

Dang mule! What a sad situation in Massachusetts! I am glad I live in Utah as a redneck. LOL

LOL Dang is right GoJoJo,
Its a sad affair for sure to live here now.
I posted yesterday about "moving to Idaho" at one point, when someone posted on the forum about going on a road trip to see the BUCK factory Idaho,
I Love there american spirit! I thought I was dreaming [yesterday] the LIBERAL MASSACHUSETTS SUPREME COURT ruled in favor that you can use GOD in the "Pledge of Allegiance" thats it not establishing religion or indoctrinating you, I still hold out hope for my ancestors who came with the GENEVA bible under their arms off the MAYFLOWER in Plimoth MA theres way to save what they started here. The TOWN MEETING HOUSE was Multi purpose for take care of town business an on sundays have prayer and worship.

Imagine the most basic of survival tools "a knife" you can't wear openly with out risk of bodily harm by the state.
Look at what we have become, a "NERF" bat is your only line of defense & forget about guns! even if you use legally protecting your family home you will get a few on a 12 man jury here who are LIBERAL and want to hang you......I have been told this straight out by some of my town police officers & [Luckily] we have a great Police Chief, but the D.A.'s forget about it they will press charges no matter if it was a lawful self defense case in your home. So my L.T.C. license to carry is pretty much null & void! except for hunting seasons and thats getting "touch & go" They busted someone I knew just after he came out of the woods at dusk LEGAL as he was heading back towards his truck on a dirt rd Rural for carrying a shotgun with out a trigger lock on it.....Reasoning by law enforcement "YOUR NOT IN THE PROCESS OF HUNTING" your going to your vehicle. I was stunned??????????????? I will not come out fo the woods an step foot on a road with out any trigger lock on any firearm anymore......Growing up here I thought being LIBERAL in the truest sense of the form meant MORE PERSONAL FREEDOMS! Not so....

Folks, Before this flies off into another direction lets remember the original poster. Lets not go too political.

I carry a small Vantage a lot in my back pocket beside by wallet, but I have noticed my BassPro jeans are getting a worn spot where the clip contacts the denim.

But, do let me say this to the OP and everyone, this subject has been discussed till folks have run out of breath. Do a search here on the Buck forum for this info and you will get hundreds of ideas. You can also try the Traditionals and Fixed Blade forum and get as many or more.

I think many users do not utilize the search function on the forum. You have to think up the right words and read lots of posts but there is a world of good info in our past.
