How does your knife ride in your pocket?

I did just pick this one up for my pocket, Buck Bantam Realtree Xtra Camo Handles 420HC Lockback Knife 284CMS18 w/lanyard. Like I said it risky business here in Mass.....this one has a legal length, my other one is my old standby COLD STEEL "VOYAGER" I just also aquired this one COLD STEEL "MISTER TWISTER" its like a Opinel only way better!

i carry my folder in right pocket with keys, lighter and coins. left pocket is for the cell phone. with the folder clipped to the pocket, i don't have to search for it. but getting keys out of the pocket gets hard on occasions.

Duly noted 300BUCKS.....figured out late last night, sorry and I posted in the right spot I think? LOL again sorry.

Oh forgot to say if you want you can [remove] my post above that steered to the [politic] of knife wearing and laws, and why I won't wear one anymore, Its O.K. with me....Like I said I figured out where to go with that catergory last night. LOL Still learning an sorting things out....sorry.

I like the lanyard for easy draw, and the lanyard will keep it above the "LOOSE CHANGE" & will see by keeping it higher up in the pocket if it keeps is cleaner & will be interested to see how it holds up in my pocket...overall.

I typically carry a medium stockman - either a Buck 303 or a GEC 66 in my right front, along with a small Sebenza or a Benchmade 705. If I am going in the field, sometimes I swap the tactical blade for my Custom 110 on the belt (love it!).

For those in more liberal locals, three words.... European Carry All.

If you do a Buck forum search on knife carry you will find a batch of threads showing all sorts of sheaths and hangers for folders and straight knives, commercial and homemade. I have shown this in some of those threads. But, for any new people I will do it one more time. You sew the lining of your front pocket together to form a knife size slot. It will go in an ride near your side seam. If it is a slot to hold both larger and smaller knives, you will have to get good at sliding the small knife out of the slot by going on the outside of your pant leg using your fingertips and it will drop into the regular bottom of your pocket so you can get it. Be careful about sewing too high, making the slot too deep. With the popularity of paracord knots you could store knife in the slot and pull it out with the cord.

A good idea, 300.
I often carry my Duke in my watch pocket. It's a little slow to get at but out of the way. DM

LFP - Leatherman Micra and money clip
RFP - Locking folder of the day
LRP - Cell phone (rides vertically thanks to a seam run up center of pocket, a la Cliff Jacobson)
RRP - Bandana

For those with interest, Mass knife laws are discussed here:
http://www.thetruthaboutknives.com/2013/04/know-your-knife-laws-massachusetts/

Nothing crazy. Fixed blades are allowed for open carry for and to/from hunting and fishing. Switch blades and knuckle knives can't be carried. Boston (and maybe some other local towns) have their own local ordinances. And yes, cops here shoot people who brandish weapons and threaten officers, a practice that I think is pretty common in other states.

I'm going to have to give this a try. Might open up possibilities for larger folders. I don't like clips. Hate belt holsters too.

Thanks for posting this.

I live in Massachusetts, and thats an a extreme description of MA carry law. You can carry quite a few knives, but if you commit a crime when carrying one Law Enforcement will charge you with possession, on top of whatever crime committed when carrying the knife. All knives deemed illegal are a handful like ( Ballistic Knives, Stilettos, Daggers, Dirk Knives, Double Edge, Automatics, ) with a few strangely put phrases. Theres a website I like called KnifeUp.com that keeps up to date with carry laws in the US. I strongly recommend checking it out and click on tour state.

On topic though I love carrying on my belt vert or scout, but appreciate the pocket floater.

Hi Steel Goblin,1st thanks for the tip on the link to Knifeup.com. Well I did grow up in Massachusetts all my life, and in the 1970's especially all my friends wore a BUCK 110 in a sheath on their belt Carpenters-Steel Workers-Electicians-Plumbers-Mechanics bike an auto, bartenders lots of proffesions and you could wear them at work and it was no big deal.......But I think most definitely "things have changed" the climate! and don't try to tell me they haven't becuase they have. I remember leaving Logan for Fort Lauderdale 1975 wearing my Buck 110 & Sheath on my belt and they let me go right by at security and board the plane, try that today! and see what happens. If you get stopped or queryed by the police and your wearing a knife watch out! because first its going be the look, then comes the all the questions and inferences an statements like whats that? or why do you need that? and it will be from some distance unless they are planning to site you for something or make up a probable cause for an arrest.

I was telling a local town police officer that MACHETE'S are the new weapon of choice he laughed until I told him about the malay at Grape Brook Valley between some hispanics and Asians people on a field down there.....evidently one group was playing little league baseball and the others were maybe playing soccer an argument broke out the Hispanics went to their cars an broke out thier MACHETES and a malay insued.....and their been other attacks with Machetes, even just this week in MA there was man who was involved in a domestic in apartment with a Machete an fled the scene the local police caught up with him and he rammed their cruiser they tried tazing him an he lunged at them and they all opened fire and killed him in my eyes justifiably so. But thats not what I'm talking about it the climate of fear everyone has today and how things in the 70's just don't fly today..........theres laws then theres reality.

Also I realize this was getting off topic for this thread so I took over to an re[-psoted it under KNIFE LAWS heres the link: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...TION-LEAGUE-Like-Gun-Owners-Have-with-G-O-A-L

SPEAKING of POCKET CARRY of BUCK knives,

Here is another method I use, and have shown this one a dozen times also, of making a hanging pouch to go in your front pocket.
You can buy them from some leather crafters, a Google search will lead you to them. I make my own, usually buying the pouches and fixing my own hanger cords. You could put a 110 in one but have limited my work to 300s, a 55 and a small Vantage I took the clip off of. I have used braided leather, but now go with four strands of 50lb test 'Super Line'. I braid them together using my 45 years ago scout camp skills. You can find out how to braid on-line also. The pouch 'hangs' from you belt in your pocket and not down to the bottom. I like to design it to hand along the seam of the pant just out of site in the pocket. I have tried regular mono fishing line for a almost invisible hanger line, but prefer the stronger and more flexible Bass fishing 'Super Line". I form the loops by super glue and wrapping the end with a strand of line, then a little more glue. After multiple years have never had one break......300

Left front pocket next to my cell and metro card sleeve, deep so I can keep track of it. Used to carry a 303 now a 305. The 305 is so small sometimes it finds itself put in the tiny right side pocket in my jeans.

Your right about the 305 Lancer being small. I carry one often in my watch pocket. In respect for a collector who gifted it to me. Have used it for a few things. DM

So I know who to have in my party on a backpacking trip....very creative 300, an frugal! To expand of your great vision I can also see Braided Fly or Deep Sea line would also be good, I love re-purposing things....my wife says I'm a hoarder. LOL shes not a dreamer or a visionary.....LOL I cut off Velcro straps and save them off my sons VANS........oops maybe I'am a hoarder? LOL

Yes I'm having that issue with the 300's I'm using BUCK velcro Nylon pouches...........
