How durable is nickel silver?

I'm looking at a bowie for a using knife and the guard is nickel silver. How well will nickel silver hold up compaired to brass and othe materials used in knife guards? Thank you!
 
Better than brass not as good as stainless steel. Before stainless steel became common , nickel silver was used for many things .Fancier knives and forks would have silver handles but lesser priced would have nickel silver. Surgical instruments also used nickel silver.It was a common material in the past. Today the choice on a knife would be more for color, a bolster could have the 'silver' of stainless steel or the 'light grey' of nickel siver.
 
Nickel silver is almost as soft as brass, and will scratch and show rub marks quite easily. I still like it though.
 
Thank you guys! My brass guards have help up well so nickel silver sounds even better.
