How easy it is to lose a knife in the woods?

When out in the woods hiking with a folder have any of you ever lost a knife out of your pocket?

What about a knife in a sheath?

I never lost a knife when hiking or camping. When it is in my pocket, the knife is attached to my belt, using a cord and carabiner.

I've never lost a knife, but I have lost a couple of flashlights while hunting on a couple different ocasions. It was very disappointing.

When carrying my fixed blade knives I always make sure the sheath has an extra level of security (aka: strap rope ) like pictured here on my model 5 and model 23 sheaths.

I'm always paranoid about losing one so I'm extra careful. Never lost one though.

I once had a flashlight and a knife to "grow legs" and walk away. Never did find them.:grumpy:

I lost two knives, a Helle and a skinner/ulu of some kind, when my dad and I had to abandon a deer killsite at the rather rude request of a Kodiak brown bear.

I've never lost a knife in the woods, but I'm pretty paranoid about losing anything out of my pockets, so I check from time to time.

But with this recent fetish the knife community seems to have developed with digital camo and OD green handles, the number of lost knives will increase, especially at dusk and a dawn.

When in scouts many people lost their knives. Thus far I have been lucky/paranoid enough not to lose one. I usually just leave them in my pocket and can feel if its there every now and then.

I'm a careful enough person that I've never lost one, but after digging through the snow for an ivory handled knife that I dropped once, I now have several good knives with orange handle scales! v:p

Let's not forget the ones with leaf patterns on them, I don't get that at all.

Don't worry, I was just experimenting here finding out how effective that camouflage pattern really is in the woods. And in my opinion it is very effective.

Lost my black Vic Huntsman in the Army. Set it down while using it during a rest break, and then it was announced we were moving out ASAP. Could not see it anywhere & did not have time for an extensive search.

I don't buy Black or Camo SAKs anymore.

Luckily we have also Kershaw Zing with orange handles to counter all kinds of camo and OD green handles. Bright coloured Lanyard will prevent that or help you find your knife. However how easily you lose a kn ife in the woods comes to the point how careful you are.

I have lost a couple of knives over the years, but never in the woods or when camping.

I lost a dive knife while coming out of a wreck. There was a huge hole in the bow of the boat and a real strong current, there was a grab rope to keep you from being swept down current when you came out, but it ment that you were getting slapped into the hull and thats where I figure the knife came out. It was the last dive so everyones tanks were empty and I couldn't go back and look. Went back a week later but with that much current it was well burried or washed away
