How far have you gone for your EDC?

I've not had to go too far out of my way myself. Once I drove about 10 mins from home and realised I left my AFCK at home so I turned back to get it. Not a huge deal but I'm sure some people have gone to greater lengths than that. I remember reading a thread a while ago about people flying and then having their knives sent to them through the mail.

These days it's hard for me to be without a knife even if I tried. My wallet has a Big Spender clipped to it and both my cars have a folder stashed away somewhere. One has a bladelock in the glove compartment and the truck has a Kershaw Black Colt in the back.

To what lengths have you gone to make sure you have your EDC on you?

What's weird is when you go someplace and return only to realize you never even had your edc on you. Freaks me out for a moment.

I've been known also to get about 5-10 minutes out, realize I've forgotten my knife, and turn around to go back and get it. REEALLY pisses my wife off!

Nowadays I keep in my wallet one of those credit card sized sharpened pieces of titanium you used to be able to get from Triple Aught. Anodized, very sharp, and pretty trick. I also keep varying models of a production Emerson in my rig just in case I forget my edc. Also, a fixed bladed small working Snody if I want something more stout to carry.

I usually just start grabbing things off the dresser in the morning and putting them in my pockets, later on when I'm awake I'll realize what I got or forgot. 99% of the time, if I made a mistake its that I have at least 1 extra knife on me, and I personally don't consider that a mistake :D
I did take a side job building fence for a guy once and forgot my knife, I still had my gerber multi lock though. I had been thinking about skipping lunch until I realized I didn't have my knife, and that made my mind up right away. I drove home and got my knife on my lunch break :)

If I remember something soon enough, I'll go back.

Worst case scenario I'll still have my Leatherman Micra on me! :D

I'd sooner forget my wallet or my keys then my knife. I've never forgeten my knife but I have forgoten just about everything else at one time or another.

If I leave the house without grabbing my larger EDCs, I still have some on me...
*High-Tech folding crowbar... my POS Multitool
*Spyderco SpyderCard PE
*SwissTech Utilikey
*Buck Minitool

I have been known to drive the 1/2hr from my sister's, home to grab the Spyderco Military, and go back there. Did that this weekend in fact. 15-20 if traffic is light...

I hate that...you always backtrack through your day and think about all the stuff that could've possibly happened to you while you were "knifeless." Bothers the hell out of me.

Once I told a teacher that I had to miss class because I needed to go home and get my knife. I had actually forgotten my wallet that day as well, but the knife was more important. Luckily I work only about fifteen minutes from my house so the drive back isn't so bad.

That's EXACTLY what I do.

I take a longer time deciding what to carry every day, than what clothes to wear. I never have been without a knife accidentally. There have been a few times when I purposefully leave them behind, but I usually just leave them in the glove box of the car. When I don't have at least one knife on me, I feel really uneasy! I even toyed with the idea of clipping a folder to my swim-trunks when I went to the local water park, but my wife said that was a little too much.

I usualy have micra on my keychain. and one of sub 3" in my car glove compartment. plus everytime I leave the door (apartment or car) I always chek if my keys, wallet and knifeis in place. currently I usualy have one knifein right front pocket another in left back. just in case :)

when I go to my school i unload all my knifes, exept micra, in my car before leaving it :) (damn campus policies & security :)

This thread makes me want to stash an EDC in my desk-drawer at work and in my truck!

I don't normally leave my TnT behind, but it has happened.

I carry at least 2 knives all the time, as well as a multitool. If I forget my EDC (spydie native), I still have my neck knife (SAK trailmaster), and my gerber multitool. I usually have a fixed blade in my pack as well as a SAK tinker...

No matter how absent minded I get, my carry habits are redundant enough that I am never without a knife...

I was in Holland, at Phillips, doing a class on how to set up a dual axis robot, for the Co. I worked for, when I realized, while trying to unpack my shipped class manuals, I'd forgotten my BM AFCK, back in the states. Luckily there was a Field Service Tech. schedualed to fly in the next afternoon. I had him pick up my knife from my wife and he brought it with him on the next flight out. IU had it within 36 hours, and I'll tell ya it was the longest 36 hours I ever waited.:)

One time we had to go on a trip down to Ft. Lauderdale to visit family, which is about a 4 hour trip (if I drive). Well, when we get down there and I start to unpack and get cleaned up, I realize that my EDC is lying on my dresser back home. Then I further realize that my car knife is lying about 15 feet away from my EDC, in my car that's still in the driveway. You know the saying, it never rains but pours. Well, looked in the phone book real quick for local camping/surplus stores and went to one. Basically, had a good excuse to get a new knife (not that I need one, but I try and rationalize it).

The farthest I've ever had to go is about 50 feet, from the living room to my room. :)

One of the joys of going to class and getting dressed is deciding which knife to carry, so I'm never without a knife if I have to leave home. However, on those lazy Saturday and Sunday mornings, sometimes I kick myself for being in the living room without a knife, when I need one. As a knife nut, it's embarassing to admit my knifelessness in these situations.

I have my ladybug on my keys. I have my keys when I wear pants. I wear pants whenever I leave the house. Therefore I have my ladybug when I leave the house.
Even if I forgot my bigger folders, I'll still have a workable blade.

I usually forget the watch, wallet, or keys because I take so long to find the perfect edc for wherever I am going. I keep an endura in the truck to keep me from driving back home for a knife.

I went to Las Vegas this weekend and had to take the micra off of the key chain. I could not stand the thought of no knife so I threw the spidie veile in the suitcase and checked it through. I would have packed more but the thought of lost luggage was too much to bear.

I keep my MOD Dieter Mark II in the console of my car just so I don't have to back home for those rare times I forget my EDC, plus its easier to reach that knife in the car then it is to dig my EDC out of my pocket with the seatbelts on. I also like its window breaker if for some reason I lose power and can't gte the window down or door open in an emergency. I have a small SAK on my keychain, too. I carry an Ontario machete in the trunk, but I'm not sure of the legality of that.
