How Far is your knife from you at any given time

Out of the week ther are maybe 2 hrs when I do not have a blade within easy reach. I am thinking about when I am in the shower.
I always have a neck knife (Bitteroot) around my neck. There is usually an AD or Crowfoot in my belt except when at work when it is in my pocket or boot. When I work out there is at least one knife, AD or Crowfoot in my bag which is twenty feet away at most. At night all my knives are within reach and my BA is near my pillow. I had not thought about it before but the only time I do not have a knife within easy reach is when I shower, in which case it might take me 20 seconds to get to all my blades.

During the day while at work or school I like to carry a GW, a Sebenza, or a Griptillian. A stone's throw away in my car sits a SHBM or a Eu-17 Magnum. I sleep with a SHBM under the bed.....right next to my fire axe :p. I'm never without a knife unless I'm in the water...unless I'm free diving where I usually have a knife strapped to my ankle.

The majority of my time is at work so there I usually have a AR in my pocket and a BIBB in my BOB in the back seat of my truck. At home I'm never more than a few feet from knife or gun... no matter where I am in the house :D

For instance right now just on my desk.. I have a G19, microtec utx70, assault shaker, police recruit, small sak, one of those razor knives and a multitool... all that without reaching into a draw :D :D :D

I ditched the folder and carry this.
The BB sheath is perfect for all day.

My Wife want's to know why I need one in my pocket if I am in the house?
She can understand the need for one while out and about.
I told her I carry it all the time so I don't forget it if I go out!!!

The only time I'm more than a couple seconds away from a fixed blade is when I'm in a store, at the movies or something in the summer. I take a fixed blade to work-usually a warden or an AD, but I've taken to bringing a Ratmandu lately. I keep a knife on my desk at work to play with all the time. At home, I have knives everywhere in the house, and usually keep my Glock within arms' reach. In the winter, I edc a small fixed blade so I'm never without one.

FBM, on the coffee table when I watch tv, in the jeep when I leave the house, on my hip when I am in the woods, & sometimes in a Dundee rig on my back when out & about certain places that I go!!:D

Since blade, I have EDC'ed my Bad Warden fairly often.

When "great ash" arrived, that became more often.

I always have a Howling Rat in my truck and I'm usually within 2 minutes of my truck except when I go for a walk which isn't as often as it should be.

At home, I'm within 30 seconds of my entire collection and that includes unlocking the safe. In bed, I have two Crash Rats within arm's reach and my AK just steps away.

In an average week, I would guess that there are only 2-3 hours when I'm not within 2 minutes (really within 30 seconds).

The only time I can think of when a fixed blade isn't within reach is when I am working out at the gym. No belt on my shorts and a dungaree rig for an fbm would get in the way! :p

Currently I carry an emerson kbit in a maxpedition versipack all day. I have a mean street on the way so will be swapping it out for that. At night, I have a razor sharp khukri next to the bed and keep a Dav Winch custom 6 inch tanto in the study :)

Right now while I am on the puter I have at my disposal about 30 Busse knives within reach. In my truck, one FFBM, and several GWs. During work I carry a TA Davidson slip joint folder. Weekends I typically carry an Emerson Commander or folder Kambit.

I lose 40 hours off the top. My career is extremely knife-unfriendly. Cannot even have one in the car while I'm in my office!

Dang. I thought I had it bad. I can at least keep a slipjoint in my pocket, and a SAK in my desk. And I work in one of those "Special Nuclear Material" places.

Fixed blades are a no-no, however. I tried to keep a HAK with me, using one of those badge carrier thingys that FS used to sell but one of the guards started giving me flack about my "assault knife" (really) and I stopped. No problems with automatics, however.

my FBM is always within a few feet of me...be it on the floor next to my bed or in my pack while at work... or stuck in between my seats while driving down the road

At work I carry a small slipjoint, a fixed blade wouldn't fly, and I really don't need it anyway. At home I tend to have a SAK Classic in my pocket. My house is small, so the entire Box-o-INFI is less than 30 seconds away, and the Ruck is on top of the bookcase in that same room. On weekends, I usually carry the SAK Classic and a Spyderco Caly Jr. In the car is an old CS "kukhri", but I have never had occasion to pull it out.

My house is so small that I can hit the farthest wall from me with a snot-rocket everytime:eek: :barf:. Anyway, all of my fixed blades are on my dresser, plus some folders. The rest of the folders are in my closet. As for carrying, my DC/Tan GW is on my side in a BB kydex everyday. Weakside (left) pocket is my Spyderco:foot: Lava. Once I get my Mili AD & MrS and Lep Warden sheaths from Leatherhog they will go into the rotation. I'm going to AZ on thursday where my BATAC (JSC/Tan) in Semper Paratus (OD) will be strapped down all week.

When I'm not at work I have a Kershaw ZT Scavenger clipped to a pocket or waistband. At home there is a blade within 8 feet everywhere except the bathroom and at night the ZT is on top of the nightside table and a Fallkniven S1 and cheap but sharp CS kukri is in the drawer. During the workday I have a Kershaw Scallion clipped to my waistband and a CS Finn Bear (sharp, cheap, and disposable) in my backpack which is within 10 feet the majority of the work day. All thats missing is a Busse chopper but unfortunately the company store isn't selling any right now :(
