How hand cut files were made, video

Thanks Agent_H. Yes, that is the exact book I have on my shelf (I have the 1983 EAIA reprint). I am having a senior memory flash back. A few pages into the book they show a file display in a display case. The book was published in 1878, two years after the 1876 centennial expo where Collins axes were displayed. We have talked about this Collins display in detail before. My memory is that the Nicholson display was also in the Smithsonian's 1976 display of the 1876 expo that I visited in 1976. Unfortunately I spent all my time with my friend who was an Exhibits Specialist for the Smithsonian inspecting axes. But, maybe the Nicholson display still exists? I may be starting to see some value in the internet now!

The download works for me. But that is 'The Modern Blacksmith'. That is only 1/3 of 'The COMPLETE Modern Blacksmith'. It's the 2nd part. The first part is 'The Making of Tools'. The 3rd part is 'The Recycling, Use, and Repair of Tools'. A small 4th addendum is called 'Hints On Using Power Tools and Other Admonitions'. These 4 works constitute 'The Complete Modern Blacksmith'.
