Thinking about a knife cutting through metal, even soft metal is like nails on a chalkboard to me. I use mine on pretty much anything non metal.

I've read that if you do use you any folder to baton, you want to have the lock disengaged. I've never done, but it makes sense that serious pounding could damage the works.

Sounds dumb to me, but I think batoning with a folder fits into the dumb category anyhow

I've used my small CGG sebenza to baton 3 to 4 logs before in an emergency situation. It worked great! I even told Anne Reeve about it at the shot show in Portland last year.

The small benza held up great! It was no longer shaving sharp, but lock up was fine.

These knives can really take a beating, just don't beat it unless you absolutely have to! :thumbup:

Sound advice. I've split wood with my 'Benza once before, and that was just because I desperately needed kindling. The knife held up fine, but I probably wouldn't do it again unless my life depended on it - in which case, knowing me, I'd probably have a better tool for the job.
