If have two xm-18s...one regular gen III. One with a custom ground blade..
How hard would it be to swap blades? I want the custom blade on the bead blasted handle of the other knife. In other words..are all xm-18 parts consistent enough to easily swap? Thanks..

Have no clue if parts will match, never had a custom, but I examined internals of regular production XM. You can certainly try the swap.... taking a folder apart is not a rocket science. It is a pretty simple job.... but I also know that some people really shouldn't be allowed to play with screwdrivers or any other tools.

Why don't you ask in the Hinderer forum and maybe see if they will bead blast that one side for you?

They say very clearly in the subforum, it's the very first thread that is stickied.
* We will not change the original finish, so for example we won’t tumble a knife that was originally blasted
* We will not do “custom” detent work or change the lock bar engagement
* We do not do regrinds of any sort
* We do not engrave or personalize knives
* We do not mark blade steels after the knife has left the shop
I guess it is true, no one bothers reading stickies.
