How has your Delica treated you?

An orange FFG Delica 4 is by far my most carried EDC. It's a great little knife and is the knife that convinced me to buy A LOT more Spyderco knives.

To answer some of your questions plus some other info from my experience:

My Delica locks up tight and has 0 blade play.

Carries light to the point of disappearing in the pocket, even in light summer workout shorts.

It's a real "slicer" the FFG blade works very well for most all EDC needs.

Mine is a VG10. This blade is among my favorite steels. Keeps an edge VERY well while being sharpening friendly.

Lastly, the comparison of the Delica to the PM2 is the kind of thing that drives me crazy. Yes, the Delica is not the heavy duty workhorse that the PM2 is. While we are at it lets compare half ton pick up trucks to dump trucks and complain that seiko watches just don't hold their value like a rolex. Two different tools built with two different needs/uses in mind. Both are awesome in their own way. By the way, I have a PM2 and LOVE it.

The Delica is a true classic and you won't regret getting one.

Delica is my everyday carry, I carried a stainless Endura on board ship and it cut everything till someone liked it more then me. Been carrying a Delica for years now, retired my molded clip for a newer Delica 4 and love size.

My wife carries a ffg green Delica I bought her and loves it. It cuts a lot of apples at her job. my first quality knife I purchased for edc was a combo edge delica (not sure he specific model, I was not as into knives back then) and I lost it when in checked out of a hotel room in Fort Worth, I miss it to this day. Great size for edc.

Just pulled the trigger on a delica wave, i spent about 30 minutes in a knife store today, walking around with there show delica wave just flippin' it while browsing the other gear. Decided i could not go on without one, I hope the decision to get the wave does not come back to bite me, not sure about the grind on it. Any experience with that? (don't mean to shanghai your thread)

got my first literally three days ago and its pretty awesome. love the color, i chose purple. the frn handle with their bidirectional grip is pretty nice. not as good as G10 imo, i would liken it to a more expensive feeling grivory as used by cold steel, although i find the texture pattern to be superb. the vg10 blade came razor sharp as everyone said it would. admittedly im a bit of a dork and shithead and i spent the next 48 hours manically slicing paper. i didnt come out of my trance until much to my dismay i found i had dulled the blade and actually rolled a portion of it slicing at branches on saplings in my backyard. this i found a little disappointing (because it meant i had to stop doing paper tests rather than because i expected more out of the steel). to its credit, it sharpened up again in no time on a cheapy two sided stone from home depot and ive been happily slicing paper every since.

for me the biggest decision, after coming to terms over the past year with the expense, was whether or not i ought to opt for the endura since they are similarly priced on the web with the endura even being cheaper in some instances. i was worried the delica might not be "big" enough. long story short, it is. it comparable in size to the kershaw skyline and leek. the blade is roughly as long as the width of a dollar, and opened it is about an inch longer than a dollar bill. you can get the exact measurements online of course, but i find comparisons helpful.

last two points, it is so light you will never notice your carrying it and it so tight it feels like a fixed blade in hand. nice materials and strong lock up with no wiggle. it is a rock...but lighter.

to summarize. this knife is awesome. you will not regret it. unless you are a size queen. then get the endura. also purple is underrated. sorry to babble. get it.

It's a really great EDC knife. I have a Delica 3 and a Delica 4. They are great slicers and I have my Delica 3 in the kitchen and use it all the time.

Delica ZDP189 ~~ you will have it forever and use it everyday ~~ you may have other knives but you will always have your
"Spyderco Delica as your every day go to Knife.! { VG10 } is also a good Steel for the Delica.!** }

Treating me very good, I lost my razor knife the other day so I used my super blue delica to make some small cuts on 5/8th drywall. Time to sharpen again

I have other knives, but the Delica is my most carried. Simple and strong. Of course, green is the sharpest.

Mine treated my wallet terribly... I got a delica as my first spyderco and now my bank account is empty! At least I have all these other knives...

I never cared for the spydie looks but then I bought a delica and an endura earlier this year. Now the delica is always with me, usually along with some traditional slipjoint. I love the light weight and precise cutting blade along with the handle ergonomics.

I have a Delica Clipit with AUS8 steel and molded pocket clip. It's at least 20 years old now but it still locks up good with just a slight bit of lock rock. It opens smoothly then it cuts and sharpens, cut and sharpens over and over. I've thought of buying a more modern one but I just can't see why. Buy one and you won't be sorry.

Let me start off with this:

I'm not a Spyderco fan(boy). The one Spyderco I've had just didn't do much for me. I've generally been on the Benchmade side of things. I just got a Spyderco Delica in a trade and sold it (I didn't like the orange scales) but the knife itself was surprisingly incredible. I am not looking at getting either a Delica or Endura for EDC stuff. I can't believe how great these knives are.

I wish it were a USA made blade. Maybe I should be cool with buying a Japanese knife though.
