What have you done to personalize your CPK? Scales, liners, engraving, new sheath, etc?

Here are a few pictures of my most modified knife. I made orange liners, acid/stone washed the blade, got a great well made sheath from Duramax. The scale material I made out of one of my old USMC uniforms that Nathan machined. The lanyard is from the same uniform and made out of the boot blousing straps and 4 buttons, one for each year of service.

The uneven wear and nicks/scrapes are from use. I'm not as woodsy as I would like to be but this knife goes with me EVERY time I go camping or glamping (in RV with family). It's a user.

I only have a UF and a DEK1 on order. But my UF came with B&R Linen Micarta scales. I purchased some nice ECAM scales for it from a very nice BF member. I love ECAM scales. The other scales are pretty also. Here is a photo.
Loading photos seems to be working fine for me. Maybe the problem is on your end?
I put off my leather sheaths that I am making for my UF until my Maker's Mark comes in. But I made a leather sleeve for the Baton that I bought from bladeknot for my sisters birthday, so in the winter the steel won't be so cold in her hands. It didn't turn out as great as I would have liked, but it's ok I guess. It's the first time that I ever tried something like that.

Outstanding! :thumbsup::)

The closest I’ve come to customizing is doing the final finish on these Shadetree scales I got from Jo.

Very nicely done fellas

Alas, I can not contribute much to these kinda threads, mainly for 2 reasons:

1- I seem to have been born with 2 left hands which could be just fine, unless you are right handed

2- As an "originalist", I stick to exactly how the mothership ships 'em because they fit me stylistically :)

What is great about this subforum is that we have a bunch of very talented people who have managed to grow organically to offer their talents to the untalented (mirror, mirror on the wall...) in a positively rewarding way. Keep up the great work.

.357gus those green scales really pop, especially when complimented by the sheath. What are they, they look like a green burlap?

Thanks! Yes they are Evergreen Shadetree burlap. I developed a taste for Shadetree burlap when I use to hang out at the Fiddleback forum. Nathan tried using it with the EDC, but it didn’t work out with his process. I jumped right on it when Jo said we could purchase them, and do the final finish.
Bud makes some nice ISP sheath.:)

Very interested to try your process. Did you dye unbuffed micarta? Have you had any issues with bleeding?

I followed the stove top salted bath directions and they bled a little bit. I did keep them in much longer to give them time to get darker.

I had already bought the fixative incase they did. So I did that process and it worked to lock the colour in very well. You can scrub them with a white cloth with soap or not and 0 comes out now. So I’m very happy with it.

In the meantime double black came out which made this process a bit unnecessary for some applications.

Yes I’ve done canvas micarta. I have a set in a box that I didn’t use. I prefer linen in hand.

Over the holidays I plan to try TeroTuf.

I put details and pics of the process on the forums. You can probably find them with some search-fu!
