How heavy is "too heavy"?

At 6'2" and 220 lbs. I have no problems hiding a large folder. I can carry any folder with no difficulty. My EDC's are a Buck Strider spearpoint, an Emerson Commander, an Al Mar Sere 2000, and a Rekat Sifu. All of them are equally easy to carry.

I would really rather carry a fixed blade anyway. I have a few fixed blades with a blade length less than 5.5" that I carry all the time when I'm off work - in addition to a big folder. My usual combination lately has been my Rinaldi L.E.O. and my Al Mar Sere 2000. In my opinion, they are the 2 perfect knives for me. My perfect fixed blade and my perfect folder. Of course, like all knife knuts, I'm always on the lookout for the next best knife...

My work carry is very small - a Kershaw Chive. I'm limited to a sub 3" blade so that's what I'm left with.

In dress pants I'd go with my BM 350 or my FRN Endura.

In jeans I can go pretty heavy, 'specially if it's in a sheath. I've carried my SOG Tomcat on occasion and that was ok. Anything heavier than that though might be pushing it.

Oh I dunno, i'm carrying a mini maglite, 1911-A1, and Spydie Chinook right now and I don't mind the weight much.

Guess "too much" is a relative thing.

Weight is definitely a considation for me, especially since I'm usually dressed for the office. I've just experimented with what works, never really thought about it in terms of a specific number of ounces. My EDC is a small Sebenza, which, weight-wise (and just about every thing else - wise, too) is close to perfect. Along with the Sebenza, I carried a Victorinox Deluxe Tinker, which was replaced by the Leatherman Juice XE6 (the purple one). But the XE6 was just too heavy, too bulky for office wear, so I recently got a smaller Juice, the C2 (the red one). I'm very pleased with it.

Well, I carry my Strider GB all the time and that feels fine to me.

edited because I am a dummy!
