How hot does the ACR LS get?

A while back my ARC LS managed to turn itself on while velcroed into one of my cargo pockets. By the time I noticed it the thing was surprisingly hot, but not quite into the range of discomfort. I doubt they'll get much hotter than that, given that it was an extended period in a small closed space.

I can't speak for the Surefire E2. I have read that most LEDs product roughly 10% of the heat you would get from a comparably-bright incandescant bulb. So I would expect the E2 to produce quite a bit more heat, although it's larger body would also help disperse and radiate it more efficiently.

The Surefire E2e gets hot fast!

I would imagine that the LS doesn't get nearly as hot and would take a lot longer to heat up.

I EDC an E2e.

The last time I got drunk, I got home and found myself sitting at the computer with a burning hot sensation in my left trouser pocket area. The light was probably on for about 10 minutes, and it was a good thing I didn't get burned. After that, I've twisted the tailcap out a bit so that it's less sensitive.

Once, as a test, I used the E2e until the batteries ran out. I set it on a desk, and used it as a reading light during a blackout. It was way too hot to pick up about 30 minutes into the test. Makes a nice handwarmer when you go night-hiking in the winter.

I have a E2 and it is a BITCHIN light. The fact that I have to spend $10 for every 75 mins of use SUCKS though. My experience in cheap batteries is that YOU DONT GET WHAT YOU DONT PAY FOR. Duracel Ultras are the way to go. As alteady stated... It gets hot FAST! I was at a show this weekend and got to play with the LS and it got pretty warm... and it says CAUTION HOT on the side. I figured that because the head of the E2 gets so hot... and the head of the LS is basically the whole body.. it might be a little hot to hold after say 15 mins of continuous use... Any other users opinions??>

When Arc came out with their new circuitry there was a lot of talk about it producing extra heat.
I purposely left one on for 30 minutes and while it was warm I could still handle it comfortably.
For contrast, my SureFire G2Z is dangerously hot after only 10 minutes.

My Arc doesn't get nearly as hot as the E2E.

Hey Archie, try $2.50 per 75 minutes! Go to the Surefire website for batteries. They have them for $1.25 each now.
