How I Ruined my BK7 - A Love Story (pic heavy)

I'd say you have a winner there! Great effort and good concept. Now the knife has some real character.

Thanks again for all the kind words guys... Ethan, you just made my week. A compliment from you is like a hotrodder being praised by Henry Ford, I hope to own many more of your knives in the future, right now I just have my 7 and 14, but you can bet I'll be chasing down a machax when they become available. I promise, I wont wreck that one though :P. I don't think there is a better knife on the market than a Becker, at any price.

Now...should I convex the edge, or just go back to a V grind?...Mousepad and every known grit of sandpaper are sitting beside me right now...and on the other side is a Lansky kit that I used to put an incredible edge on my 14 the other day... decisions.

That looks great! Can't wait to beat mine up and give it some additional love! PNW Beckerhead gathering! Gonna use the crap out of it! Then strip, sand patina...so on...

holy moly, 600+ grit. you are insanely patient. you've had a lot of practice i see...hookers aren't that expensive or time consuming :D

I'd say that with all the polishing, the edge is halfway thru being convexed. Going back to a v edge will clash with your color scheme, plus u run the risk of scratching up that fine polish. Go for the convex while carefully avoiding contact with the patina area (tape it up just in case). Beautiful work! gave me some ideas for the weekend!

Thanks again guys. I'm slowly trying to bring myself back to the thought of using it the way I used to...I mean worst case scenario, I just start polishing again. I actually never touched the edge with all the polishing, I was careful to use a flat block when putting pressure near the edge, and didn't roll or convex it at all. I'll probably do a v-grind, but hit it with some 1000 as well to polish the edge a bit. Just don't have experience with convex edges, and I like the feel of a V edge.

Also, the best thing about a mango patina, is eating the mango after. The left over, not the used chunks. I accidentally licked a piece off the back of my hand, and the combination of acid and metal literally made it taste like I had just bit my tongue off. Disgusting hahaha.

Loved reading the story behind the process. Very cool man...very cool. Looks fantastic, I can imagine those colours changing in the light and glad you just did some of the blade with that i.e Multi-faceted. Schwing!

Looks awesome man. But, I was exhausted just reading how hard you were working on it!
My seven is still pristine black.......you inspire me.
