I have a free standing bookcase that has a couple of shelves dedicated to just sharpening gear. It is right behind me as I type. I have to use a cane or wheeled walker to get around so as I'm sitting at my puter I can just swivel around and get the gear with little effort.
I have countless stones I've acquired over the years, old wet stones, oil stones, along with a host of steels and strops but the core of my kit is in this box. I also have a pretty nice variety of diamond hones also.
Even with an Edge Pro, Sharpmaker, and Lansky, I still do 90% of my sharpening free hand.
The ceramic home I have, shown in the bottom of the pic is a $5,000 ceramic flange, it has a little chip in it so they couldn't use it on the MOCVD (metal organic chemical vapor deposition) system from one of my jobs so the engineer gave it to me.
