How I Store My knives.

I keep mine in 18 quart and 56 quart storage containers that I keep stacked in the garage and Man Cave. I separate my knives by manufacturer and style (spyderco, Scandis, big choppers/machetes, etc.)

My hobby has grown way too big for cabinets and drawers...

If you're worried about this; might I suggest a 1,000 pound gun safe that SHE doesn't have the combination to? By the time SHE firgures out how to get into it or move it SHE'LL have already run out of steam or forgot what SHE was doing it for.

I have that- problem is, it's full.

I'm sure she wouldn't do that! She seemed perfectly civilized when I met her! :D

My wife's very sweet- MOST of the time. However, I believe ANY woman is capable of such an atrocity, given the proper combination of hormones- star alignment etc. I strongly doubt my wife would actually do such a thing- she knows what it would mean- ie: her tukus on the curb. But women aren't always rational. The more passionate a woman is, the crazier she can be.

All of this talk about "She who must be obeyed" reminded me that the other day she finally cleaned up her closet i.e. she picked up all her crap and put it back in that cave. I counted over 50 pairs of shoes. Hell I'm down to a just a few knives as I had to sell my entire previous collection to cover a dang near $4,000.00 vet bill for her cat that she ran over, that we still had to wind up putting down because he could not be fixed. I'm going to buy another knife right now.

Thanks for this post I had been holding off, but no more, the lashing will be severe but it has to be done. Wish me luck.

Codey- that is one SWEET case! Beautiful!

I got a display case from another forumite, then a drawer, then a couple, then a safe, and now they have pretty much taken over over a room- I think I need help!

Well, it seems to be spreading, the more space I get the more it gets colonised by knives..

Bedroom cupboards have been overrun, clothes getting pushed into obscurity-there's been some remarks about this but I remain strangely deaf..The desk in the study is smothered, the drawers have got their little outposts of Knifeland too...cabinet in the bedroom inherited and a nice old mahoghany thing has some knick-knacks,small tools and an increasing knife population...Old compositer's cabinet in living-room is full not with type but types of knife, then the kitchen has slip-joint and hunting knife representatives. The Country House has only a few, a dozen but they get reinforced when I visit with a bag of 'essentials' I've even dropped off a couple of slipjoints at friends' places just in case I get the need to fiddle with something during socialising. Even the car has its emergency back-up quota...Office too, but more caution is needed there as it's public (no not over zealous sheeple vigilantees but somebody might get light fingered and walk off with one, horror!)

I got my fixed blades in a plastic container under my bed...really don't have the money to spend several hundred like you said to store my knives in a knife specific storage compartment, or the space.

Here's my solution, I also have a smaller custom made 4-shelf display case for some of the rest. Then there are all the ones in boxes.

I keep my really good ones in a felt lined oak toolbox and my somewhat nicer in those soft sided folding knife cases.

Most of my folders go in this cabinet I got at an estate sale for $75.

It holds a lot in each drawer.

I keep my knives in their boxes, and stored in a water tight ammo box..some of them that don;t have boxes..i oil them liberally then put them in a plastic baggie, then store in the ammo box..no issue yet..
