How important is it to you

I feel a manufacturer´s forum improves the image of the company and does have influence in my decisions.

I have always liked Buck, but have learned about them and like them more after reading the forums, and bought two knives not long ago.

Similarly from Spyderco, I got their 2003 catalog and information about dealers in México thanks to their forum, and last weekend I bought two knives.

I probably learn more from discussions on the forum in general than any particular company forum, but I recently went to the Spydie forum here to look for information on one of their knives, saw a comment about a "stainless steel Cricket", and immediately ordered one. It is now a favorite carry-it-anyway knife :)

They say there is no bad advertising, but any time a manufacturer can get a happy discussion going about his products, sales will surely follow.

((Incidentally, this ss Cricket is beautiful! VG-10, framelock, take off the clip and you could drop it into a coin pocket and forget it's there.))

I honestly beleive the manufacturers are genuine in their concern with the Forum AND their customers, or they wouldn't be here on the Forum with their eyes and ears open. I'm glad they are here, even though I am a custom maker. The boys got where they are by finally listening to makers and customers. Those folks listen and put out a better product, and who gains? Yep, we all do, in the long run.

I don't really buy to many production knives anymore, but whether a custom maker contributes here is definitely a consideration.

it's nice to know that the company get involved with their customers because there's nothing more direct than this, besides having a face to face convo, but that's hardly possible for us Northerners waaaaaaay up here :D

it does somehow effect my decision because if i haven't heard of a company and BF hasn't heard about this company, then i most likely will not buy from that company, especially if it's a little bit of an investment
