Yeah I agree that would be the maximum, but if you have a recurve with a decent ricasso your gonna end up with an extra inch or so that doesnt seem fair!

Measure the longest way (Blade contour) and then you know that you're in the clear.

Or ignore the entirely sensible advice and do whatever you want and perhaps face the consequences.
