I have mini-socom, and just chipped the tip...:barf:

Will they replace the blade under warranty?

Emailed them 3 months back and got no reply, I was trying to get a replacement switch for my Makora

Could be wrong but don't think chipping the tip of any Production knife is covered under warranty. Misuse of the knife or dropping it is virtually implied here. What were you doing w/it?

Some Custom makers might make it right for you w/one of their pieces, but would be under no obligation to do so w/o a fee IMO...

I've never had to use MT customer service. I've read a lot of posts by people who did use it, and they were not happy stories.

When I have a Microtech that needs work I will sell it at a loss
rather than deal with their customer service.

They have great knives, but do not give a darn about a happy customer.

how large is the chip?

probably much easier to reprofile the blade slightly than wade through, what appears to be common, the very poor customer service.

Of the numerous Microtechs owned. . . . .I had two defective knives. One repair was executed perfectly (simple sear replacement). The other knife (high-end OTF) experienced six return engagements to repair two issues. The one problem should have been a "cake walk," but it took three returns for MT to get it right ! Three more returns and the knife is still in the same condition it was when I shipped it to them the first time. :grumpy: I gave up.

Here's my suggestions. . . . .run with MORIMOTOM's suggestion ! :D

Thanks for all the input guys. I will just reprofile the blade. It's a small chip, barely noticeable...

I dropped it from waist-height, and it barely took off the edge of the tip.

It's amazing to me that MT's customer service is so bad. I tried calling them about a squeaky pivot on the same knife last year, and they told me that they would charge $30 + shipping just to look at it :thumbdn:

Fooled me once, but I will never buy another MT knife given their reputation for shoddy customer service.

i dont know i've seen complaints about CS on micrholics myself.

how is MT CS?? not so good imho.

A microholic "fan boy" complainer here; while there may be some recent improvement in CS at microtech, I wouldn't bet on it. Otherwise their CS is often rated among the worst.
all da best,
rats...
