How is my website coming along?

Who the heck is left? ;)

As far as counters are concerned I am not a big fan of them on the website. If you use a good hosting service it usually comes with much more detailed reports of who looks at what on your website. More useful than a simple number of access to your homepage.

yeah, just use google analytics it will give you much more information than just how many hits.

Putting your email address in plain text is simple asking for more spam. I would make a full page all about contact. You can then put all yoyr social media stuff, a mailing address and phone number and your email. I recommend putting the email in in image format. Plainly read by humans but no way for the spambots to know what it is. Alternatively, you could use some for of contact form for sending the emails thru.

Very cool Fred and Tim,
I'll check that program out. Thanks for all the ideas everybody. They won't get implemented overnight, but I'll be referring back to this thread when I get time to tweak things. For now though, I need to be grinding on steel......off to the shop!

Looking good.
AND I like the knives!

The contact link is a mailto href, which is technically the correct thing to do. However it depends on the browser being able to link to a dedicated email program, which obviously lots of people don't use. Mailto's also do have your address in the text of the page, perfectly identified for spiders to harvest, so I agree that an image or text-based obfuscation would be appropriate on a breakout page that gives a little more info.
