How is the leek?

I don't think the tip will be a problem for me.

Are some leeks framelocks and some linerlocks?

How can I get a hold of a blem? I live in Europe so I need it shipped over here.

Yes, I prefer liner lock leeks because they're sightly thicker and lighter. It's an excellent blade. It's a quintessential Kershaw. Just as the miniGrip is to Benchmade, and the Delica is to Spyderco. If you want a Blem to save a few bucks I'd take a look on eBay. Or check out KershawGuy.com and shoot him an email. He'll hook you up I'm sure.

The 1660CB is really a great version of the Leek. The D2 edge is a nice upgrade to the standard steel. I actually prefer the framelock, which the CB has. However, the linerlock is not "bad", just not my preference.

I've actually taken to giving Leeks as gifts to people who have only used a traditional in the past and they're well-received.

The Leek is a good knife, but if you want a knife with a strong tip, then the Leek is definitely not for you. I like thick tips, and that is why mine is on the bay as I type lol

This is about 75% correct. First, the Leek is a small knife, not meant for doing things you might use a ZT for. Second, no knife is a pry bar. Yeah, there may be times when you absolutely have to do something like that, but you know you risk the tip being broken.

I've always had good luck with my Leeks, and if you want a stouter tip I'd suggest trying to pick up an older Random Leek, like the 1660TSW, or a Random Task.

I personally like a knife I can use harder and not have to worry about the tip, I just like the peace of mind knowing it would take some harder use, but that's just me :)

I mailed a bunch to the Czech Republic with no problems.

I've owned everything from Mtech to Chris Reeve knives and everything in between and I carry a Leek as my edc. It does everything I need a knife for and more. It is a bit small and has a slightly fragile tip but its excellent performance far exceeds its negatives. I will always love the Leeks. As a matter of fact I have a silver partially serrated one clipped to my pocket as I write this. :)

If you bent the tip opening a bubble pack, someone needs to show you the correct way to use a knife.

No offense, just sayin'....

If you could take some time off from "pool hustling", maybe you could take me under your wing and show me how to use a knife properly.:D

The leek is starting to dry up and we should have it patched up very soon. Oh the knife. I got one for my dad(the CB leek) and he loves it.

Sure no problem, just look me up whenever your in Los Angeles. I will give you my cell and my address. Look forward to it.

My favorite Leek is the version with G-10 scales. The G-10 is a lot grippier than the all SS versions IMO. IIRC it also has a S30V blade upgrade. I wish that the Random Leek was offered w/o the serrated blade. It does have what appears to be a considerably stronger blade tip than the standard Leek model. Overall the Leek is not what I would consider to be a heavy duty folder though. It falls more in the "Gentlemans Knife" category. If you want a heavier duty knife think about the Shallot or the Blur. I have a damascus blade Shallot on the way. I also have the 1670S30V Blur.

I can say the leek is a great edc blade. Carried one for quite awhile and my boss gives them out to all of his hands working in the oilfield... that being said I have seen some really really beat up leeks.. this is because a knife to a oilfield mechanic means that its a folding gasket scraper.... A handy mini pry bar... impromptu screwdriver... thread cleaner.... never seize/any kind of putty spreader... metal strap cutter... etc etc etc... I do not use my blades in this manner but I have seen the leek go through hell and back... I have seen a lot of speedsafe kershaws go through the same treatment. Hence, I have seen tips bent and broken on leeks. Typically though these can all be repaired fairly easily. Also gunk can build up between the lock bar and stop pin causing the blade to not lock up. Once again easy fix. I would recommend this blade for normal edc use because I have seen it through A LOT of abnormal use.
