This one caught my eye because it is the perfect size edc for me and have been wanting to try a strider. Its also the cheapest strider in price from what i see. But i have seen some videos of people saying in their opinion its not a $300 knife. I always do a good amount of research before i buy a knife and would like to get some feedback from people that own this knife. Is it a good knife? Hows the quality/fit and finish?Smooth action? Ive heard that this knife has blade play. Anyone had problems with that? Any other problems i should be aware of? Thanks for any help.

I don't own a PT, but I've owned 5 Striders over the years. The fit and finish is in line with the price as far as I'm concerned. I've never had a blade play issue that I couldn't adjust out myself. The action on mine is really smooth and the quality of the knife in general is very good. If you have any issues Strider will fix it, so no need to worry. I like Striders, I rotate them through my EDC lineup and they work really well for me. I say try one out.

PT's are good knives, IMO. They are NOT as heavy-duty- capable, of course, as the larger Sng and SMF models. The PT's comes in serveral flavors...in CC (concealed carry "smooth") as well as in grippier Lego-type scales.
Be aware that the CC does NOT have a pocket-clip...and it is not designed to be fit with one.
The LEGO-design does come with a pocket-clip.
It's a small knife, in terms of size. Here are the specs:
Blade Length: 3"
Cutting edge: 2 3/8"
Overall Length: 6 1/2"
Closed Length: 3 5/8"
Note that the grip length is ~3.5", and a 3" blade. The blade-length is fine, but I cannot get a "full-grip" on a knife that has less than a 4.2" grip. Note that the small CRK Sebenza grip is just barely less than 4.0" and I cannot control that knife either.
Given all of that, the Strider Customer Care is the best I've ever experienced with any company and the knife is warrantied for life, regardless of who bought it in the first place.
For light office carry, I think it's a fine folder. I've owned perhaps four or so, but it's too small in the grip for my comfortable carry. So check out what size grip you need for YOUR hand-size.

I have small hands i only buy knives with a 3 inch blade or less with a smaller size handle. So i think the strider pt would be perfect for me. I deffinately want the pt not the cc because i do like having a pocket clip on all my knives. The main thing im worried about is the fit and finish because ive seen a few videos of people saying there is alot of blade play and the fit and finish could be alot better. I have also heard there have been small changes to the pt version, so hopefully maybe strider has fixed these problems. It looks like a great knife hopefully i can come across one of the newer versions.

Had a few in the past and regret selling them...Very fine pocket knife indeed.....

mostly out of stock. sorry
Strider makes a run ever so often; it will come around again.
Also, we see a lot of these, in various condition, on the Exchange here.

I have owned two of them, and much prefer the small sebenza for a high-end production knife.

The Pros:
blade holds a nice edge, and you can choke up on it for detail cuts
The scale and backspine are one piece
The detent is nice and stout

The cons:
The clip position leaves the knife riding too high, and the blade is more difficult to disengage because there is not a cut out on the scale side.
The lock wiggled a bit, not much, but some

They can also be difficult to find, and if you do locate them they are pricey.

Currently I have Strider SnG's and SMF's. I've had three PT's, couldn't warm up to them. They're great knives and the fit/finish quality is good, nothing to worry about on that end. I do like the lego style over the CC.
For a small knife, I prefer the small Sebenza. It's more subtle in appearance and more non knife people friendly. I also like the AG Russell AciesII, it's in the same size range.
The PT's don't come around often and be sure you're looking at the latest version. Good luck!!!!

I have one I love it I don't do anything particularly hard with my knives but it's held up great. My one and only issue with my knife is the pivot, I hate the driver pattern on there I really wish it was a more common type.
Or I wish they had a tool available so I could adjust it properly.

I have owned a few striders and I choose to not own them anymore. They have the cool factor for sure. I have had too many problems with them. Lock rock and other lock issues on the new and old lockup. Yes they will fix them but who wants to send their knife in all the time. IMO ZT makes a much better quality knife for the same $ or less and a CRK is on a different level of fit, finish and quality. Yes there is a chance any knife can come with or develop lock problems but your chances are much greater of having an issue buying a strider. There are endless stories of brand new striders coming with poor lockups. This is rare with a ZT or CRK. Just my 2 cents
