How is the strider pt?

I'm so tempted by the PT. Such a cute little hard use knife.

Little covers it all right. For handle comfort, I rate the PT alongside the Mnandi. They're both excellent knives, but I can't get a secure grip on either of one of them with my medium-sized hands.

I have had several. I want to like them cause, they are cool. However, with no other company is the phrase "your mileage may vary" more true. You might get a good one, you might not. You might have to send it in for repair, you might get great service, you just as likely may not. I have had a few poor experiences and had a few good ones. Some people expect better for the money, some tolerate more BS cause, they are cool....Ask yourself if you can deal with issues and potentially poor customer service and whether the chance is worth taking. How lucky are you?

For pivot adjustment, you can use the wire part of a black binder clip. If you cut it down and bend it a little it can serve as a pivot adjustment tool.

This one caught my eye because it is the perfect size edc for me and have been wanting to try a strider. Its also the cheapest strider in price from what i see. But i have seen some videos of people saying in their opinion its not a $300 knife. I always do a good amount of research before i buy a knife and would like to get some feedback from people that own this knife. Is it a good knife? Hows the quality/fit and finish?Smooth action? Ive heard that this knife has blade play. Anyone had problems with that? Any other problems i should be aware of? Thanks for any help.

I've had three over the years, 2 legos and a CC. None in the last 3 years, though. I always found them to be superb little knives... I say again, "little" knives. Mine were all outstanding the F&F & performance departments and they worked flawlessly. No blade play, early lockup, centered blades... they just don't fit my hands. They're too small for me to open & close them comfortably. The SnG is a perfect size for me. My PTs were equal to them in every way except being too small to be useful.

Apples to oranges. Show me a ZT that's comparable in size to a PT.

I was just thinking the same thing. If there was a zt the same size as a pt it would be on the way to my house right now.

Sounds like its hit or miss with the striders. Either you get a perfect one or you dont. And for $300 i shouldnt have to worry about getting a perfect knife or a crap knife with a loose pivot. For that price they all should be absolutely perfect all around. So maybe i should start looking into a small sebenza 21 instead. Ive heard nothing but great things about crk knives.

I think there's a lot of personal preference here (duh ;) ). I have large hands but the choil makes a lot of difference. I do find unlocking the PT a it of a challenge, though - not much lockbar access for big thumbs.

Maybe it claims to be hard use but further inquiry reveals it is not.

Ah, there is the man...
I bought one...the tip had been snapped off and reground...poorly. Caused a bit of a stir when I examined it (was not disclosed), but we got through that... I sent it off to Strider Customer Service. The pivot had been superglued and epoxied in. Strider could not get the pivot loose even with heat, so they drilled it out, and installed their brand new pivot design... a brand NEW factory blade...sharp...cleaned and adjusted everything up BETTER than new and sent it back to me...
Oh yeah, NO CHARGE...:)

WHEN I SAY THAT STRIDER HAS THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE IN THE WORLD, I DARNED WELL MEAN IT.

Hi Sonny! I thought you'd like that. Still and all, I do like these knives. We all have pasts.

I had a performance PT with the asymmetrical grind and chromium nitride coated blade and thought it was a wonderful knife.

I'm 6 2" with long fingers and if you use the choil and choke up on it I could get a full four finger grip on it.

Knife was very smooth, centered and no lock play or stick.

The SnG is not all that big and it's lighter in weight than it appears.
I have small hands and you can see it's not too large.
I'd get an SnG and the buy a Kershaw Leek if you want a small framelock.

I've owned three over the years. Two legos and one CC. All three were great knives. I just did not warm up to them for no particular reason. The last one that I owned was the CC and it did require a long break in period. About the only complaint was that the knife rode very high in the pocket due to the clip placement. That issue was solved with a sheath.

I keep wanting to come back to them but I am sure I would come to the same conclusion - nice knife but not for me.
