How is this possible?

To be honest I think ROWEN changed something important. The newest knife i got was SCARY sharp.
Yeppers my Izzy II was scary sharp, and I'm still tryin to get it to dull after cuttin 50+ magazines in 1000s of shreads. (what a mess) The II has not changed a bit? I sure know what ya mean by "SCARY" sharp. wild blades.!!! LUV EM :D edgy:thumbup:

1095 should be the next metal of year, if not decade ;) forget this A2/D2 starwars stuff. good basic 1095. great stuff.

well, except for 5160. i have a place in my heart for that.

Rowen manufacturing has a magic heat treat process that only them and Santa know about. It makes the steel have special powers, including unnatural toughness, among other things.

Also, I heard that before the Boogey Man goes to sleep at night, he looks in his closet for Jeff and Mike from ESEE.

Almost looked like my izula II came with a microbevel. Could just be my imagination...

Yeppers..One of the first things I did with my first ESEE was go out and beat the beans out of it. I chopped a large tree branch, made a spear (hardwood) cut into the side of an old VERY hard 3 in. thick oak plank 30-40 times, slammed it into the end grain of the oak plank 3-4 in. deep.20+ times, And it still cut paper like it was out of the box. ESEE heat treat is a treat.!!!! Tough blades ever made!!! And I never hear them brag. WOW. They got the rights to.:D
edgy

yea, aint that something  i like Cold Steel's knives, but the whole "world's strongest sharpest knives" is just one insane blanket statement.

ESEE is seriously under-hyped. my wife, mom, and little sister are all getting ESEE's for Christmas and i'm getting one more (for now). i'd like to see all my friends and family (almost) completely switch over to them. i've come to view my ESEE as "a trailer park Busse" :D

Ok so my edge pro came in and I finally sharpened out all the chips I put in the edge of my 5. After I was done the edge was pristine and sharp as a razor.

Do you have a decent idea what your bevel angle is (and mind sharing it with us)?

Just curious...I thinned out my 5 a bit last night and I am wondering how it will hold up. Unfortunately, I will have to wait until the weekend to really test it out.

I sharpened the 5 at 48 degrees inclusive. It sounds very obtuse but it actually cuts great, and I have no problem slicing through soft materials at all. The edge is obtuse enough to be super tough but it still gets REALLY sharp.
