I have a friend that has a bunch of redwood burl slabs. He wants me to trade for a knife and us going to send them to K&G. He might use some for other projects so its not all going to be handle sized. How large can he leave it and still cut new pieces out without dry spots?

Also he might want to sell a slab. Are there buyers that give good prices or does everyone find their own market ?

Send me an email. You may want to edit your post. Talking about money without at least a knifemakers membership is frowned upon

If I remember correctly, their max. recommended size for proper stabilization is 2"X4"X12".

I'm not meaning to talk about money. It's not my material and I was looking for general info about if there was a market or not. I'm assuming that there is not. Should he want to unload one of his slabs I would direct him to sellers such as yourself.
