How long did Buck make the 119 Pro with brown micarta?

Years back I entirely gutted and re-did the whole first floor.
Kitchen included.

I asked the wife which countertop she wanted. A friend owned a company that did them, he needed to get it ordered.

"I want the green one".

You need to mark the sample, put it in my hand....something.

" I just want the green one!"

Fine.

She wasn't happy on instal day.

😎

We once did a State Police office building. New construction.

We got close to done and the owner's rep came by, with their typical entourage "I just love that shade of blue".
She had picked the color and never revealed to anyone that she thought the green she picked out, was blue.

Until that moment.
Everybody was looking at each other..

😯

Oh my

I looked at my 105 Pro last night that was made in 2022. It is brown. I asked my wife. She said it was brown. Buck's web site photos look brown to me. Below is the current 119 photo on Buck's web site. Does anyone think it looks green? All of the catalog (2021-2024) photos look brown to me, but they are listed as green canvas micarta handles. Maybe this is a color perception issue like the dress back in 2015.

Looks brown to me....
It would be nice if the color didn't vary so much. Makes a matching set difficult.

That is green canvas micarta. The color shifts to brown in varying degrees, and it doesn't necessarily require use.
These are all green canvas micarta:
This one was taken and edited into the post. It was indirect natural light

This one was just taken in full sun...

The 105 Pro looked more green when I received it & it has been sitting, waiting patiently for its new sheath to arrive (I hate retention straps; so I won't carry it in the stock sheath)

it's a green brown to my eye in that pic.

I was disappointed myself, when my first green canvas micarta handled knife turned brown. Shortly after that I read here that it was common. I just did a quick search; but stopped before I found that thread... Because I found a different one with a direct answer from Nathan the Machinist (in response to a question about green canvas turning brown)

I would say that's officially br-een. Depending on the light settings of my computer. :)

That is some excellent detective work! It definitely makes sense. I'm curious now. I need to go look at some of my other green micarta knives.

Ok, this is interesting. I went and grabbed two BHK's I've had for a number of years. The boat tail scandi on the bottom has been around for 11-12 years. The bushcrafter is only half that. Both of these knives were VERY green when I got them. Now... I'm not so sure. They have both faded to green-tinted brown. The scandi was used hard for a long time so I assume the oils in my hands had something to do with it. But the bushcrafter has had pretty light use and it's still much browner than it was when I got it. I would have never guessed.

Neither is the warm brown of my 119, but it's not too far off.

These aren't the best pictures because the lighting is pretty harsh but it's an interesting comparison. I guess we'll never know if Buck just received a batch that leeched to brown more quickly. I did email them just for fun. No word yet. Although I'm not necessarily expecting an answer.

The “green” is actually what has prevented me from ordering/buying a 105 in S35VN. Every one I’ve seen has been a blah green to me (forgive me now “green” fans, lol). Just not all that attractive to me, sorry.

But that brown, wow, perfect. If I could find a 105 like that it would instantly be the eighth one in my collection!

If you find out where they’re selling, let me know because I would get in line behind you. I would love a 105 in this color!
