How long did it take you before you spent $400+ on a knife?

About 1.5 years after I got into it. Went from ZT 0350 to custom Pohan Leu fixed blade and custom DDR Gunhammer. The Pohan Leu will replace my other custom fixed, my Coye Ridgeback which is getting exceedingly rare to find since Coye doesn't accept new orders. The Custom Gunny will replace my HTM Gunny.

About 3 years and $5000 later for lots of $200 knives or less. I don't regret buying any knife I paid $350 and up for so far either. They can usually be sold quickly if needed but they are truly a notch or two above most lesser knives if you decide to keep them.

I can pretty much say I will probably never sell my CRK's or Striders and I move knives quite a bit. They are that good.

I have't yet and it' been about 5 years that I've been into knives now. I was going to buy something nice at a local show but then found out that even custom prices are much higher here than in the states. So I haven't found anything so far that I'm willing to spend that amount of money on.

I've been into knives for about 16 years. Got my first real quality knife (spyderco delica) around 1995.

I still have never spent $400+ on a knife. My most expensive knife to date is a small sebenza, which I think was about $335.

I would love a hinderer, umnumzaan, mnandi, and strider SNG, but meh... Maybe one day? Just not at the top of my list of things to do with $400 right now. Haha. The sebenza kinda scratched that itch for me.

I’m not sure if this counts, but I couldn’t bring myself to pay everyday price for a knife in this price range, but when an opportunity for a heavy discount presented itself, I dived for it without thinking twice.
