I just bought one of those smaller diamond stones (fine) it works great! sharpest my Moras ever been! Just wondering if theres a life expectancy for these?

Thanks in advance! :)

I ALWAYS carry the small DMT keychain Coarse, Med. and Fine with me. Together they have sharpened knives literally thousands of times and they are still going strong. They are really all that you need for sharpening but bigger ones are faster and easier to use. Good choice and keep on playing with them.

You know it really seems to depend on the user. Some report using them for 10 years without a problem, others seem to wear them out reguarly within a week. It's probably very dependent on how hard you press down while sharpening, and how hard the steel is on most of your knives. Generally the harder the blade, the longer diamond hones last. Using less pressure also helps a great deal. Press down really hard with a coarse hone on a soft spring tempered blade and you'll likely wear it out in short order.

As Yoda says...

I have had a DMT extra fine for at least 15 years.
I use it all the time and is still going strong
