As Yoda says...You know it really seems to depend on the user. Some report using them for 10 years without a problem, others seem to wear them out reguarly within a week. It's probably very dependent on how hard you press down while sharpening, and how hard the steel is on most of your knives. Generally the harder the blade, the longer diamond hones last. Using less pressure also helps a great deal. Press down really hard with a coarse hone on a soft spring tempered blade and you'll likely wear it out in short order.
As Yoda says...
I have had a DMT extra fine for at least 15 years.
I use it all the time and is still going strong
My blue base is about shot after 16 years of use.
