How long do you EDC a new knife before rotating back?

I do not "EDC", I "TODC" (Time Of Day Carry) because during an average day I will change my carry uaually three (or more) times depending on the circumstances and what knife I select from my "active" bag. (I have an "inactive" storage for collectibles and etc) New knives do get a little more clip time but they are in the rotation just like my other knives, If circumstances are right I may not carry a new knife for a few days but I admit that is usually not the case. I did recently float over a new BM-Vex I got for about a two weeks before I got it in pocket. What can I say, I'm "knives knuts".

what do you do?

I just carry my one of or both of my EDC knives. Bm558 and Delica4 wave. I have a MOD Cqd MARK ii, but I usually dont carry that unless I think I need it. Which is almost never.:foot:

Like a lot of others it depends on how well I like the knife. I will usually go two weeks to a month with the same knife. My rotation is small and involves about 3 to 4 knives on a regular basis. The current knife is a production folder that I seem to come back too on a regular basis, my BM 610 Rukus w/ivory micarta scales. I really like this knife!! :D

When I get a new knife it will get carried until I find something I like better. I have two classes of EDC, one for weekends the other for work. The issue is often my work knife stays there for the weekend. My current EDC (DMK Spektor) has been in my pocket now since I recieved it, with one weekend camping trip exception (carried my XM-18 as I always do for camping). Steven

I have basically stagnated with switching between Spyderco's Caly3 and Mille (CF BG42 today:cool: ).

For dressier occasions the Persian gets carry time:D I do have quite a few other knives, but they get a lot less carry time and usually a Caly3 or Millie is with me even then.

I edc a knife until I get tired of it then just put it up in the sales corner :-) Helps me fund for a new one. I don't normally let knifes sit around gathering dust. If I don't use it then it's gone.

I rotate my EDC out every week or two, but it depends on where I'll be or what I'll be doing.

At the moment, I don't have a rotation. I carry the same knife, a small Seb ,all the time. At work, I add a multitool and a Wilson Coptool, but nothing else at the moment. I got rid of most of my knives over the last year since acquiring the Seb.

Same here. I used to rotate randomly any of my folders which I like. After I got my large Sebenza, I don't rotate anything any more. I have Sebenza always with me. I just love this knife.

If I get a new knife, I might have with with me additionally, but I never leave home without my sebbie. :)

Millie lasted just over two and a half years only to he quite uncerimonusly booted out by a SS Endura II, AUS-6 at that, yeah, kinda surprised me too. The EII went for 9 months when the SS E4 (VG-10) replaced it, and that was 6 months ago. As a knut, I am always on the lookout for something I like better, but I have yet to find it.

Ones that have gotten serious attention but did not make it included the Caly3, disco'd Stretch, Lg. Classic Sebbie, Manix, Para, Ocelot, Mini Manix, Persian, Buck 889, Buck 172 and others. Two that really have me interested though are the new CF/ZDP Stretch and the Samaritan. I'm open to other brands also, I just haven't found anything I like better than the hole and the integrity of Spyderco.

I keep 3-4 knives on the desk and pick one in the morning based on what I feel like carrying.

How long do you EDC a new knife before rotating back?

If the new knife is an EDC type, it will be my main EDC for at least a few months unless I find I don't like it.

I carry multiple knives and rotate them regularly... though I will cary a new knife almost exlusively for while when I first get it.

I have about 12 watches and 12 knives that I EDC. I will change knives during the day for a given activity. I will usually change to a larger more aggresive knife at night (I live in a crappy neighborhood). I have all Kershaw Ken Onoins and Zero Tolerance. I'll get a couple of the same knife if I like it and do different grind, polish variations. Maybe I'll take the DLC coating off a blade and clip, or maybe I'll polish the scales. So I treat my knives like my watches and shoes, I pick for the outfit of the day.

I change every day as well, and I have somewhat of a TODC factor. I am liable to change knives every time I walk past the knife case. I normally carry a larger knife as well as a SAK or a slippie, and that doesn't change, although the knives themselves do.

Depends on mood, needs, clothing and climate.Thing is, do you EDC only ONE knife? I can't bring myself to carry less than two, coat, trousers. Problem is in summer with not much clothing, shorts or swim-wear, er...difficult.

When I was younger, my EDC was always a Case stag of some type, swapped EDC's every time I bought another stag. But now as an old man, I have been EDC a William Henry Liner Lock, Ironwood Handles. It has been pocket bound for over two years now, holds a shaving edge for a long time, slicing paper and boxes with it most every day. I know, should just use box cutter, but when you love a knife, you don't want to make it jealous.

I pretty much carry the same knife until I buy something else, usually every month. The only constant I go by, is that it be a Ken Onion / Kershaw collaboration and it is carried in addition to my SAK.
