How long does it take to get jigged bone handles looked "worn out"?

Hi guys!

Thank you all for the nice Threads and the fotos. It seems to me, like carrying the knife more in a pocket with coins and such stuff will let it look this way(s), anytime... ;)

Kind regards
Andi

I've got this CASE Pocket Worn Mini Copperlock in Red Bone from the end of the last century.

Really nice DARK red bone, none of that lipstick bright stuff. Only problem is, I'm afeared to carry it in case it wears out too soon:D:eek:

Thanks BIGLMBASS,
I carried an old Tree Brand from the very early 70's on Sundays, it shows quite a bit of wear as well.

Also as Sonnemann said, the 6217 is kind of the Granddaddy of the SBJ. As of late, the SBJ has now replaced my Sunday carry. It's just a wonderful knife. Also that ole Silver Dollar in the picture has been with me I'd say pretty much every single day since 1968.

This is one of my favorite threads.

Hi guys!

@ david: Yeah, I also think, that a long period of carrying it in a sandy or dirty pocket will remove a lot of the bone which is on the handle.
@ syn: Well, I wanted to do it the "natural way"
@ nathanL: This would is what I have already thought, or even feared. After carrying and using it for about 40 years might take the handles down to a pocket worn look. Then I´m nearly 70 ;)

Kind regards
Andi

Andi, I don't see a problem here. At that point the knife will have given you 40 years of use and companionship. Just keep carrying it and using it and it will develop its own character in its own time. Same as you.
