How long is too long to hold an order

About every time he comes around he will sort through my stock and buy several at a time so it is a good thing to show my appreciation.

Great to hear! Good on you for hold up your end as well. Now how about a picture of the knife?
 
I asked my wife if she had a picture of the knife and she says she don't, I guess I need to be sure and keep pics of all my knives. The knife was made just as ordered, D2 3.5 " blade, Vine and thorn file worked spine, Stainless guard with black and walrus tusk spacers and Axis deer crown antler handle. Hopefully he will be using it and giving feedback on my work
 
Been lurking and following this to see what happened and thanks for allowing me to read a wonderful ending for all involved.
